    Who Matters In The USA? The People, or the Government, or the Corporations?

    I have always had the political belief that the people own the Government, not that the Government owns the people.

    I have always had the political belief that the people own and run a business. The business doesn't own the people.

    A Libertarian-Right told me tonight; "America has the highest rate of black hair brown eye people in the world. What if they decided to place their laws upon us?" (He immediately backtracked and said it wasn't racist, but confirmed it was a good point)

    So the question is (for anyone who actually read this far down in a thread);

    What group matters the most to you in the USA?;
    A) The People
    B)The Government
    C)The Corporations

    The people because without any people there would be no government.

    The government without a doubt is the most important actor in the United States. They are controlled by some corporations anyways, but without the government this relationship wouldn't be able to exist. The people are pretty much irrelevant, believing whatever their lying government tells them. They are the least intelligent, least informed, and least organized of the 3 groups. You might say that they are pretty much irrelevant.

    Not true. The government has plans to evacuate Congress, the President, and his cabinet in the case of annihilation such as nuclear war. There are no such plans to evacuate the people. They are unimportant, and always have been.

    The Corporations in collusion with the Government are the Masters.

    The "People" are only important because they must consume what the Corporations produce. However, that importance is collective and rarely applies to an individual.

    Without no people they would have no one to govern and gain legitimacy from.

    Well all governments are not legitimate, but I believe the original question is asking who is most important and that is the government by far. The people are definitely the least important of these 3 groups.

    The People SHOULD matter most but it doesn't seem to be the case.

    I am big fan of JFK. But as popular as his statement "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" is, I tend to disagree with it if the definition of "country" being used includes the government.

    Certainly so they are. Most governments are seen as legitimate and others not so much.

    I would disagree. Talking in a "nuclear war" speech its understandable that the government is taken to safety ASAP so basic functions of government can continue, but in everyday terms the people are way more important.
