Who Matters In The USA? The People, or the Government, or the Corporations?

I find this phenomenon amusing.

Traditionally, our govt is supposed to be the "referee", the playground monitor.

Now, the very entities that CHOOSE who we get to vote for have managed to convince the people that the govt THEY SELECTED is our enemy.

Which is EXACTLY what I would do if I didn't like being "refereed" and had the money to bring it about.

If money doesn't like the way the govt behaves, why don't they pick better people for us to vote for?

Because they want us mad at the govt, not them.

Could you imagine the change that would be possible if the TP and OWS realized they were both angry about the same thing?

For a minute there, I thought that was going to happen.

Then the media commenced to bashing OWS.

Fancy that!

The corporate owned media, misrepresenting the anti-corporate movement.

No conflict of interest there! Nosiree!

But Obama controls them both! Now my head is spinning....

Not really. FoxNews bashed, MSNBC praised. Exact opposite with the Tea Party

It's partisan bull****, and there is a reason they like to keep the uninformed focused on these petty left/right issues.

Of course it is.

Really, when you look at it, the TP is concerned about the power of government. OWS is concerned about the power of corporations. But it's the corporations that put the money in play that creates government! Government isn't going to save us from corporations because they know where their bread is buttered. Corporations aren't going to save us from their creation.

No msnbc praised.

Pretty much everybody else mocked and sensationalized.

Focused on every apparent negative, and failed utterly to correct errors in reporting.

And there were lots of them.

And they successfully painted a movement intended to foment discussion, as a goalless mob of dirty hippies.

Making much of the "silly" "Peoples Mic" (repeating what the speaker says so those in the back can hear. Done because amplification was banned) while dilligently ignoring the discussions themselves.

Blasting pics/videos of "anti-semites", who turned out to be a homeless guy who had been flying tose signs there for months, and a local street kid who's youtube videos as "Lotion Man" establish him as a local idiot, not an OWSer.

Focusing on misbehavior while ignoring things like cops "bombing" the Occupations with troublesome homeless people, picking them up and dropping them at Occupy sites with promises of free food.

Etc. Etc.

What most people in this country BELIEVE OWS was about, and what it ACTUALLY was aboit are not even remotely the same thing.

Whixh is what happens to an anti corporate movement when 90% of the media is owned by 6 corporations.

Business owners and government employees aren't people?

News to me.

Corporations are people, that's settled law. Often wealthy people from places like China and Saudi Arabia who have a constitutional right to exert more influence over American elections than less wealthy US citizens.

Law is never settled... Corporations are made up of people who have a monetary interest. They aren't free thinking people. One of the questions on the "Park Board Application" I put in was "Do you have any monetary interest". If I can't get on a Park Board in a small town with monetary interest, how can politicians run our Country with monetary interest? It's everything wrong with politics today.

I was being cynical. It's a sad state of affairs when we've given political influence to corporations when oftentimes the stockholders aren't even Americans. Not to mention the unfair advantage wealthier Americans have over average Americans in the ability to "buy" elections. I say lobbyists and corporations should be banned from giving to political campaigns or at least have a total limit on all campaigns, parties and superpacs. The same for unions. Give the country back to the people.

I have always had the political belief that the people own the Government, not that the Government owns the people.

I have always had the political belief that the people own and run a business. The business doesn't own the people.

A Libertarian-Right told me tonight; "America has the highest rate of black hair brown eye people in the world. What if they decided to place their laws upon us?" (He immediately backtracked and said it wasn't racist, but confirmed it was a good point)

So the question is (for anyone who actually read this far down in a thread);

What group matters the most to you in the USA?;
A) The People
B)The Government
C)The Corporations

Are we going to see a freaking poll or what?

The only correct answer is A.

My (B) should have been State. Because I was told that the State is more important than the people, the reason of the thread. But the state is Government so whatever. I was told that "We see a record number of dark skinned curly haired people in America today. Do we want them making the decisions if they become the majority?" Not my words, just the reason for the thread.

To me? The People, as The People are the seat of all power and authority wielded by the government. Corporations are property, and property is important; but it's property. It has no rights, it's just a thing.

Not true. The government has plans to evacuate Congress, the President, and his cabinet in the case of annihilation such as nuclear war. There are no such plans to evacuate the people. They are unimportant, and always have been.

but with no people to govern, those that once held government positions are now just people.

And that worked all the way up until the first Alien and Sedition Act.

It's still racist.

What group matters the most to you in the USA?;
A) The People
B)The Government
C)The Corporations

None of the above.
