I don't see why they shouldn't.
Yet they do, they get preferential treatment and cheap accommodations on public land that other groups do not receive.
Sorry but there is one you missed and I paraphrase "Morally straight."
Please give your opinion and no personal attacks.
I do not see why they would not allow openly gay scouts or scoutmasters. There is no logical reason not to allow them.
Like it has been said already the BSA are a private organization and they should be allowed to say who can join.
Sorry but there is one you missed and I paraphrase "Morally straight."
Way to miss his point. :roll:A lot of men do in both instances.
Straight pedophiles rape little girls and gay pedophiles rape little boys.
That wasn't the question (though it's obvious NP is doing some baiting here). Lots of people do things that have no logical purpose, but that doesn't relate to whether or not said practice should be allowed or disallowed.I do not see why they would not allow openly gay scouts or scoutmasters. There is no logical reason not to allow them.
And if they choose to engage in discriminatory action excluding gays, they should lose their tax exempt status. You can't have it both ways.
And that will change if federal discrimination laws are changed. But hey, it's not MY organization that is in jeopardy, so I don't really care.
Self-centered much?
Since the government has no business caring about such issues it should have no effect on their tax status.
Well if you want to be technical, the government has no business giving money to an organization such as the Boy Scouts.
However, neither reflects the reality of what goes on.
All true. Like always though, there is no reason to make it worse.
I don't think the Boy Scouts should hire either openly gay or openly straight people.
.
In this particular context, exactly what behavior would reveal someone to be "openly straight" and should therefore be prohibited in Boy Scout hiring practices?
Because they don't want to and see such as morally wrong? Honestly, I'm always perplexed by people getting caught up with what organizations are doing, that they likely have no interest in.
You don't like BSoA policy? Great, don't send your kid there.
Yes. Discrimination is inconsistent with the lessons on quality of character that the Boy Scouts aims to teach its members. It probably needs to knock off all of the overtly religious elements, too. The Boy Scouts has a policy of discrimination against non-monotheists as well. With regard to both issues, it is impossible to teach good moral values and discrimination. One precludes the other.
For example. Moral straightness and discrimination based on sexuality or religion are completely incompatible.
That wasn't the question (though it's obvious NP is doing some baiting here). Lots of people do things that have no logical purpose, but that doesn't relate to whether or not said practice should be allowed or disallowed.
The question was whether they should allow. My reasoning for why they should allow gays in the boy scouts is that there is no logical reason not to. That is exactly the question.
Certainly it's true that there is no logical reason that you will accept.
That is not a logical reason.
I didn't think it was, but it would inform you on why " they would not allow openly gay scouts or scoutmasters."
