Lol- it's been so long since I've worn earrings, that I had forgotten that little ritual.

Oooooo - naked ears!

Shudder!

If someone broke into her house and held her at gunpoint tell her he/she is going to rape her husband or her kids?

I'd expect her to say, "Say hi to satan for me motherf*cker!!" and bust a cap in his ass.... a big 8 guage cap :afraid::shoot

 Men don't get it.

Oh yes we do. We know what that means. If the wife is taking off her earrings and kicking off her shoes it is time to take a couple of steps back.

There is a loaded pistol on top of the book shelf. There is a loaded 12 gauge in the closet. There is a machete next to the wood stove. Pick a method. In my reality attempted rape is a capital offense.

It's interesting that although the choice was given in the OP, everyone assumed the burglar's male.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ!

Why the hell would you ask such a messed up question?

Interesting huh?

Well, it seems many have simply dodged the question entirely. In the other thread, the male was expected to be willing to give his life to save the female or significant other. Any man not willing to do so was chastised as being a coward. And in the last thread, men were actually being applauded by female posters for laying their life down for the sake of a female.

Where as in this thread, I have yet to see anyone say that a woman not willing to put herself in the same place is not branded a coward or a lesser female.

There is an underlying misandric view in America that is protected by both men and women. It is so deeply woven into our social fabric that many don't see it, or just simply feel it is not really that important an issue.

If any other demographic had similar statistical signs as men do such as:

Comprises of over 90% of the workplace deaths.
Dies 6 years earlier
Commits suicide 6 times more likely (and shockingly 1000 times more likely past the age of 70)
Is the vast majority of those effected by violent crime
Is the only demographic forced to sign up for being sent off and killed in a foreign country
Make up 40% of the high school graduates
Make up nearly 40% of the college graduates
Control 70+ % of the spending
gets 1000 times less funding for cancer research

If any of the above indicators were of a minority group, we would know about it and there would be a call for equality or protests in the street.

If any of the above indicators were of women, we would know about it and there would be a call for equality or protests in the street.

If these indicators were of men, no one cares and no one would know about it.

have the wife shoot the creator of this asinine thread

after all it was only created because he/she got his/her ass handed to them on the other thread

I can only speak for myself, but in that situation I'd probably do something drastic that would probably get me killed, but it would give my wife and kids a chance to escape.

What I think a typical woman would likely do?

-If its the kids' safety, do any and everything to protect them even if it costs her her life.
-If the husband is under armed threat of sexual assault, endure the emotional trauma and call the police afterwards. If a man was the perpetrator, be loving and supportive as they go through the healing process together. If a woman was the perpetrator, be ticked off at the husband and partially blame him even if only internally.

What do I think she should do? There's no cookie-cutter answer. It all depends of the circumstances. The mom/wife's personality; toughness; access to weapons of opportunity like kitchen knives, heavy objects like a brick or cast iron skillet, keys to gouge eyes and I hear wasp spray in the eyes will stop someone dead in their tracks better than pepper spray.

Right, somebody needs to explain to SMTA what a woman taking her earrings off is all about. It has nothing to do with earrings, or naked ears. It has to do with somebody about to turn into the Tazmanian Devil on your ass.

Other, of course. I would expect her to be in a "safe room" with the kids long before the intruder could get to her. For those not familiar with the "safe room" concept, it's pretty simple. You designate a room as a safe room. Anytime the house is broken into, she would go to such room which is stocked with a gun (large enough in caliber to penetrate the door and anyone on the other side of it), a cell phone and a decent lock/bar system on the door. When the burglar alarm wakes her, she and the kids go to such a room, lock themselves in, call the cops and if necessary, blow away anyone who she doesn't know who tries to enter the room. The smallest child's room or closet would probably be the best choice, older children would know to go there when the alarm goes off. Other useful items to have at hand would ear defenders in case your local area doesn't allow suppressors or if one of us doesn't have the appropriate license for one, Water, a few snacks and any items necessary for infant care. If anyone but the husband, whom she knows, or the cops, which their presence and even the dispatched officers name/badge number can be received through the 911 operator (or should be, if not, you need to vote to improve your 911 system) attempts to enter the room, she starts plugging rounds through the door.

There are lots of different options/systems available for entryway/window alarms, motion sensors, etc. Also, having a good dog in the house is a very good investment to warn you before an assailant can even enter the house.

Outside the house, concealed guns, knifes and other sharp pointy objects are always good to have on your person. When able, having a good loving dog of sufficient size to cause injury to an attacker as a companion is always a good thing.

I am currently unmarried, but any woman I might even possibly consider marrying would definitely have to be pro-gun. I currently sleep with a loaded semi-automatic .44 magnum on the bed or in easy reach (8 240 gr, hollow points loaded and two spare magazines, 8 round each, the gun is kept loaded with one in the chamber and cocked and locked). Long before we ever got married, she would either support that, possibly even have a gun already herself, or she would never reach the stage of being my wife. At least one date during the courting phase will be to a gun range.

A dog is an extremely good defense. A prosecutor I know (female) whose cases include sexual assault, stated that she had NEVER had a case where a woman was sexually assaulted who had a dog with her - unless it was domestic violence. Stranger assaults are crimes of opportunity and perceived ease. A dog makes an attack potentially more dangerous, plus some protection against being sneaked up on.

You sleep with a .44 magnum in bed with you? I sleep with an incredibly cute, blue-eyed little blonde. I wouldn't trade with you.

She should instruct her family to draw their weapons (guns if 18+, pocket knives else) and get into formation.

j/k, a family should have a plan that every is aware of in case of emergency. Depending on where one is all should run immediately to either the closest exit and to a neighbors, the panic room if one is fortunate, or the safe room. Preferably the master bedroom, the added bathroom provides another locked barrier & time.) Then call 911 and if armed point the weapon at the door.

I personally practice home carry of a 9mm in case escape is not possible (cornered in the kitchen or something) and keep a 12 gauge in my safe room. I do wish I had a dog rather than a cat though...

The reality is that once an intruder has complete control of your very young children? He has control of you. If the intruder intends to do you or your children harm? If he sees you and knows you know he has your children? IMO, you're screwed. Rather like the Kobayashi Maru.
And extra points for the Star Trek reference!

Ooh, another MRA! How exciting! You're not as flamboyant as some of our others though. Pity.

I'm not going to sit here and seriously deconstruct this because it's never worth the effort, but I would just like to point out that this so-called misandry is actually something patriarchy put in place. Little women can't take care of themselves, you know. And men aren't real men when they express their emotions. Both concepts of patriarchy.

So if you'd like to dismantle that, you should be playing nice with feminism, not against it.

If someone broke into her house and held her at gunpoint tell her he/she is going to rape her husband or her kids?

Wife and I have specifically discussed in detail what we would do if someone held a gun to one of us or one of the children, demanding the other one come out unarmed? This is because we sometimes camp out on a boat far offshore - and potentially someone could sneak up on us in a storm (so the dog wouldn't alert us) at night.

The reality is what it is. The reality is that to disarm assures all die. It would be saving one momentary resulting then in all dying. I'm a fair shot and my wife is extraordinarily skilled with her handgun. The firepower we have available on our boat is diverse. The rifle rounds would penetrate 2 people with ease. The handguns would knock anyone down about anywhere he was hit. The shotguns would clear the deck.

So we discussed the horrific decision of having to shoot thru one of us to get the one (or others) behind. How to best do so to knock the one behind down (or kill him), with hopefully a non-lethal hit on the one of us in front.

The thought of that even being a possibility has lead us to NEVER go camping offshore alone with our children. Only if many others are along and more than one boat tied off to ours too. So then I'd just be the two of us. My wife is quite small - it would leave a lot of the guy behind her exposed. I'm a big guy, but my wife so skilled with her revolver at that range she would need only a couple exposed square inches on the person to get him. Thus I would come out with a rifle (not as good a shot but more of a target to hit) - and she would come out with her revolver knowing that person could not be continuously 100% shielded by me.

The reality is that "surrendering" doesn't mean its over and murderers tend to be untruthful as to their promises and intentions.

I cry during movies and even some shows, there I said it. Forrest Gump especially gets to me.
