No. I bare more resemblance to my father's politics, but we disagree on a fair number of things.

My mother is an extreme conservative. Obviously not much resemblance there.

They're polar opposites in politics, and most other things as well.

It actually kind of begs the question of what the hell they saw in each other.

My parents have been divorced for a long time now. My mother is a closet Democrat. She won't admit that she stands with any party, but when politics get brought up...it is obvious.

My father is a Republican. I share most views with him now because he is starting to lean towards the Libertarian side. He fell for all the propaganda of the wars under the Bush Administration, but he admitted that it was wrong recently. He is against the social welfare. We share a commonality in that because we understand that our country cannot sustain this kind of spending. Now, I am working to convince him that Defense spending also needs to be cut.

That is one thing about Republicans that separates me from the party. They share my view in cutting entitlements, but they argue strongly against any sort of Defense spending. I got to keep reminding them that both must happen if we are ever to make progress on this monumental deficit.

Me and my parents lean in the same area politically, but I'm more libertarian than my parents. I'm a tea party conservative who cares more about freedom, foreign policy, and economic issues than social issues, even though I lean moderately conservative on social issues (I'm extremely conservative economically).

Not really, no. My mother is a libertarian conservative, and my father was a staunch (if hypocritical) social conservative. I'm some sort of unholy hybrid between a Roosevelt Republican and an Asatru religious fundamentalist.

I was raised by hippie's in the burbs. My mother became more conservative later in life but was still a social liberal. My father is a union man so he voted the way the union told him to vote. Somethings never change. Today my father is married to a communist. I visited them for 2 weeks last October. We discussed politics some. For many years they have known I am conservative and that I believe in limited government, capitalism, and individual liberty and the pursuit of happiness. They both believe in nanny state policies. They think the government should take care of us from cradle to grave and they dislike those who work hard and achieve great wealth and success. They also support King Obama, the ACA, spreading the wealth to bums who are to lazy and stoned to earn their own wealth. They are pro death, and they are christian. This I do not understand. I love them both even if they are as wrong as can possibly be.

I voted no. My parents are not political at all. Although they love to complain about it, they don't partake by even voting. I always tell them they don't get to complain to me if they are not even going to vote. My mother is a very religious person who complains about taxes being to high and too many entitlements, but thinks my sister should get all of the public assistance she wants. My father just ignores everything and tries to run his business. He is not religious at all and thinks my sister is a deadbeat, we have the same belief on this issue. I have been conservative since I was married and had to take care of myself and my family. I didn't pay much attention to politics before that.
