Yea, we were scared of Palin too, remember. Tell the same lie...

If the Repubs had any intention of him running they would not have trotted him out yet, unnamed Republican nominees always do better than real ones anyway. This is just the newer, softer side of the republican party, no real change. "Hey lookie here this guy, he is a REpublican, pediatric neurosurgeon, and he looks just like you, come vote for us." Someone above said the Republicans falsely believe blacks simply vote because of race, I think he is right.

I'm used to being in a minority in my political beliefs, so it doesn't bother me.
We're basically of the same mind about Obama.

True. A reasoned person tends not to speak in the extremes.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

This just seems really childish and ridiculous of the left to me. Ask a conservative, christian man what he thinks about the LGBT community, he speaks his mind, and than he's labeled an indicent bastard who hates equality.

You ask a liberal, atheist man what he thinks of Christians or religion in general, he's (ironically) God incarnate who has found and understands the truth of the universe and reality.

Same thing with the whole Chic-fil-a thing.
LGBT community: "Hey, lets ask the conservative, Christian president/CEO of Chic-fil-a to see what he thinks about us and if he supports us"

Dan Cathy: "No I oppose you"

LGBT community: " **GASP****......lets get angry and chastize him and try to get people to hate him because of his beliefs!! "

I get the right is vocal about it but damn last time I checked they have jsut as much of a right to criticize the LGBT community as the LGBT critcizes them for being "bigots"

Of what consequence is his race?

He is a very intelligent man, apparently Conservative. He doesn't say anything that every other Conservative says though. Why is he special?

And the Dixie Chicks had a right to criticize Bush. I guess it was Liberals that demanded radio stations stop playing their songs.

    Or there's this list:

    Boycott Liberals

    I guess he's a liberal too.

Would you agree with me that if any part of the criticism is due to a person's race, that's bigotry?
I don't think people are criticizing HIM based on his race. They're criticizing the party for the way they seem to be playing him.

Look, I don't pretend to know why the GOP is so worked up about this guy and I'm not going to commit to a guess when I just don't know. But that said, I can see why people who are less gun-shy would do so. I mean, here's what we're working with.

    - Carson is very unremarkable in terms of his political stances.
    - Carson is a decent orator, but not great, and there are other people who are better in the GOP.
    - Carson is a doctor, but he's not the only one -- there's an entire caucus dedicated to Republican doctors.
    - Carson is educated and accomplished and the GOP does have problems with being perceived as anti-intellectual, but again, he's not the only one by a mile.

So given all those facts, why is the GOP making such a big fuss about this guy?

It could just be because he's some fresh meat, which they desperately need, given the way all the tea partiers are running their mouths right into irrelevancy. That's a workable theory.

Or... it could be because they're hoping his race will win them some minority voters. Given that they treated Herman Cain very similarly and the only thing he shares with Carson is race, this is not an unreasonable theory either.

I don't pretend to know which one it is, but those are really the only two options. It's really either desperation or a racial appeal.

ok.... your proving the point I'm trying to make?

I'm assuming "he" is the guy who made this list... The thing is this is only one man with some followers, there was not an entire movement to gather pitchforks and picks and drive the Dixie chicks out of town. The entire LGBT commuity goes on a rampage when someone openly says they don't like the way they roughen the sack.
