No, the clergy.

Because that was a perfect definition for politicians..lol

I'm not really religious nor do I particularly think about organized religions. I think they're too much into dogma and appearance but otherwise they don't bother me.

I dont believe churchs should be forced to do anything it does not beleive in. With one exception.

If a Church opens a reception area, public hall or even the church itself to the general public to use with its own preachers or for its own uses, the they dont get to pick and chose which individual public gets to use it. I happen to have had experience with this in the American Legion setting. We rent out the hall upstairs on days we dont use it for meetings, wedding receptions, parties of various sources. I hope I get the terminology corret but a few years ago a large group of LBST rented it. I think the old guys handled it very well, there were no heart attacks down at the bar. We also had a lingerie party one night, the womans auxillary got all worked up about that one. The board discussed it and if we start picking and choosing who uses it...well we just decided aginst it. If it is open to the public, the public can use it. If it is legal.

Civil servants can, although certainly they do not always do so, perform a useful service. The clergy talks to imaginary friends for a living.

Hardly. There's already a perfectly acceptable word in use, we've established that "separate but equal" is an unacceptable concept in this country, therefore they ought to use the word we already have to refer to an equivalent thing.
What's not established is whether "separate but equal" applies here.

If we're going to give gays equal rights to marry, there's no rational reason not to give them access to the same word that heterosexuals use. "Separate but equal" should never apply to anything in the United States, only true equality should.

And if we're not going to recognize gay relationships as marriages?

I don't think there's any chance in hell that's going to happen now, once the ball starts rolling, and it's rolling really fast now, there's no stopping it. Only the idiots and the religious retards are standing in the way and I hope it runs all of those freaks over.

That's my point. Unless the church wants to abide by anti-discrimination laws (which might contradict their core beliefs), then they should forfeit their legal authority to authorize/confirm/validate a state-recognized marriage.

There is nt really a rationale that leads to forcing churches to marry anyone. If they open a school, or a hospital, or any other business, those secular endeavors are subject to anti-discrimination laws. But not churches themselves.

No of course not. Nor is it reasonable to believe that they would be.

If this becomes the case gays are welcome to form their own non-profit churches and perform their own weddings. Besides, you don't have to go to church to get married anyway.

We have been doing that for years.

Do I start the most one sided polls or what? Lol.

More likely it's the people calling others "idiots," "retards," and "freaks" that are standing in the way - no matter what side of the argument they're on.

Which would be the religious.

Gays have to understand that not everyone is ''OK'' with it..

Yet the second anyone says anything negative about the religious, they go screaming and whining that they're being discriminated against.

My mother had a pet bobcat growing up. While I'm glad people are largely not allowed to do that these days, there are one or two big cats I'd love to have as a pet. :)

I don't like domestic cats..but I bought ''Pipo'' in Spain..where they thrust chimpanzee's..pythons..and inevitably lion cubs into your arms..for that photo shot..They buy the cubs from Africa..smuggled over to Spain..they pay £25 a cub..

Well ''Pipo'' was rather large..the photographer put him in my arms..and I remarked he was heavy..

He said ''mañana estará muerto .. es demasiado grande''

Tomorrow he dies..he is getting too big..

So I bought him..
