By forced, I mean anything that the govt could use to penalize churches for failing to performing the ceremonies, including removing tax exempt status if they don't, etc.
Well the Catholic Church does not believe in divorce. If you do divorce you are ex-communicated from the Church. So if they do not believe in SSM they can say no to marrying same sex partners I would guess.

Well then your point is so diculous it's ridiculous. Nobody will spend $30K for a wedding performed by a notary. It would damage our economy and nobody would send gifts.

Average couple spends $26,989 on wedding; many break budget

Churches lost their relevance regarding marriage as soon as the tax code and other laws gave married couples special benefits over others and hence the need to register your marriage with the state/tax man.

Basically you can get married without a church, but you cant get married without a marriage license and registration. And because of that.. churches or anyone should not be forced to marry people on their property, just as no one should be prevented in marrying.

^^ that. And I accidentally hit maybe/don't know option on poll, but I am 'no' all the way
I call my own shots, largely based on an accumulation of data, and everyone knows it.

...you're serious? You think people will stop having big weddings because the license isn't valid when the pastor/preacher/priest blesses it? And you think MY argument is ridiculous?

Yes and Yes. Outlaw marriage completely--it oppresses single people and leads men to a life of serfdom, spider killing, and heavy things toting.....

No. They don't even have to marry a particular straight couple if they don't want to. No reason they have to marry gay ones.

Re: If SSM is Legalized, Should Churches be "Forced" to Perform Gay Marriages?

The only time I would want for churches to be forced to agree with me is if the wall of separation is weakened. If "it isn't possible" to have that wall, then churches will become a political thing, rather than simply religious. Under such a circumstance it will be obviously natural for anyone who cares about politics to want to influence religion.

As it stands now, I voted No.

Of course not. That would be ridiculous.
