Should Governor Chris Christie appear on NBC's The Biggest Loser?

Christie is an a very good place right now taking his political image to new heights. A cheap show like that could only damage him.

if he's going to make a run for president, he should probably lose some weight. i don't say that because i have anything against him for his weight; i just recognize that it would create a problem for him. the presidency is at least in part the ultimate popularity contest.

that being said, doing it on the biggest loser would be ill advised.

Agreed. It is not healthy for a man of his age to carry all that weight and then expect to run for president. Its a recipe for potential disaster.

He needs to shed the pounds but I don't think a reality TV show is the place for it if he wants to be POTUS one day. On the other hand, I think part of his appeal is he doesn't come across as a pompous elitist but is very down to earth. Maybe if they did a special edition of just public figures such as Candy Crowley, Ruben Studdard, Jane Kennedy, Rick Warren, etc. and the show agrees in advance to be extra careful not to treat contestants with disrespect. No yelling, no man-boob t-shirt shots, etc. Still probably not but only under those conditions.

How so? My Dad is still living at 68 at over 300 pounds and 6 foot tall yet my mother a small petite woman of 5'2" has been dead for 3 years now at 61.

I still don't think Democrats will really make him their nominee for president despite his current popularity among Democrats.

Glad to hear that your dad is going strong. :peace Some people defy the odds. Others fall victim to them.

I have to believe somebody of Christies size and age gets medical advice all the time to lose weight.

.

As did my Dad from Mom and others. I don't think cancer targets people by size

Oh please let this happen. Don't care if he needs it or not it's would just be comedy gold.

that is what they keep saying ignoring that genes play a bigger role

No doubt that genetics play a huge roll. And that is something you cannot change. My dads grandfather lived to his mid 90's and both my folks are still alive - late 80's - and doing very well with all their faculties and in good health. For my money, I want to live forever and every little thing - and perhaps major things - I can do to increase the odds of that are things I try to do.

I have run 2,000 miles a year going back to the mid 70's. Never smoked, never drank coffee, and lead a very conservative life style that would make most people look like libertines. If it gives me five extra years - and I do not get run over by a damn truck - while a drunken driver distractedly munches a triple cheesburger while chugging a red bull - I will be happy.

I am built just like my Dad but 4" taller. I use the elyptical every day and a bowflex 3 times/week. I take no presecriptions but can't get my waist size down any further.

i'm with you
what reality tv needs is an angry fat man

Yes, he is in a good spot right now except Republicans don't seem to like him right now because he worked with Obama and praised him. I think if he did well on the show, it could boost his recognition factor tremendously.

You could be right. I remember Dick Nixon saying "sock it to me" and riding a tricycle in a raincoat on LAUGH IN --- and he ended up with the nomination and the White House. So I guess anything is possible.

I don't know if you meant it that way, but I thought your post was brilliant comedy

while the stress of the presidency plus obesity presents a real risk, i'm not convinced that he couldn't do it. the problem is perception. my prediction is that the Mike Huckabee model will hold here : if you see him starting to slim down in the next couple years, he's probably going to run.

Absolutely not. He'd eat everyone else.

People really think about these things?

He should lose weight for his health regardless of whether he runs for president, and especially if he does. However, he should not do it by going on some cheesy reality TV show. It would be degrading to him, and his opposition would be licking their chops for the great sound bites that a show like that would inevitably produce.

Absolutely. But it's too late now.

I understand that The Biggest Loser would disqualify Christe because his surgery would give him an unfair advantage.

Sorry, Chris. You made a BIG mistake. You should have opted to compete in The Biggest Loser INSTEAD of having your drastic surgery.

No I don't think someone in his position should be on a reality show.

Damn a banana split sounds fricking good now.
