Do politicians purposely use certain issues to distract you?

Do politicians purposely use certain issues to distract you?

Example: Do they use or encourage some issues, i.e. abortion, gun control, death penalty, etc., to be high-profile so that we the voting populace will be distracted and not call them on other issues that are more critical in our daily lives such as the economy... which they have little power to "fix"?
If you claim sexual harassment to be wrong, yet you defend anyone on your side for any reason,
then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

Of course they do. Politicians have selected "talking points" that relate to actions (legislation changes) that they wish to be involved in, and will ignore (as much as possible) any other issues. Most will shy away from complex (and difficult) economic issues yet will gladly give you an earful of wonderful detail about their pet issue(s). The MSM tailors its "news" stories accordingly and rarely deviates from the prearrainged subject matter when "interviewing" their (carefully selected) politicians.

Red-Herring Issues are the fundraising bread and butter. It is why they always come up and never get solved

Duh. Since Reagan. Get knee jerk emotion going. Don't let them think about the increase in poverty and the loss of government social programs coming their way.

References to ursine toilet habits and the religious persuasion of a certain Vatican resident come to mind.

Any/all of them. When was the last time that you saw Tim Griffin, Scott Tipton, Rich Nugent, Karen Bass, Maxine Waters or Al Franken interviewed? It is not that these buffoons lack the desire for free media exposure it is simply that they have little "wisdom" to offer on a given issue. Usually the media will "select" top leadership form either party or those that are otherwise "in the know" (bill sponors or committee chairs) about a given issue to appear.

Can you name the 5 corporations which control our media? If so, of them what do they give in campaign contributions to the democratic party? To the republican party?

I am not here to play quiz games with you. If you have a point to make then please simply make it; hopefully supplying links or specific examples to help make that point. Most congress critters, from both parties, get campaign cash from the rich, including corporate interests, and tend to reward them with legislation at each opportunity.
