Earth Hour was last night...

The argument between Josie and Redress is incomprehensible..
Or I am missing something...
I, for one, do buy a reason for inciting people to accept that we do have global warming...and that is one of the puposes of WWF and EH..
Earth Hour.....just one lousy hour in a year for our planet....and even that is too much for some...

Only your budget director will be upset by this rather strange event....or, when oil for heating hits $100 per gallon, will people switch to coal or natural gas ...or nuclear power...
No, I also probably turn up my heat too just to tick off the eco nuts and offset what they think they are saving

Earth Hour.....just one lousy hour in a year for our planet....and even that is too much for some...

It's a meaningless, pointless gesture from a movement that specializes in meaningless, pointless gestures. It accomplishes nothing. That's why people don't bother.

Earth Hour.....just one lousy hour in a year for our planet....and even that is too much for some...

Because people know it doesn't do anything...what's the point?

To celebrate Earth Hour......

Tonight from 8:30 to 9:30 wherever you are on Earth, turn off all devices that use electricity. Because..... if we all do that... the Earth will be saved!

Anyone celebrating?

My neighbors all seem to be, by burning the wood they're been cutting all week. Do we have to turn off the lights if they're powered by solar panels and batteries? All my power comes from wind, solar and hydro, should I turn out my lights?

Because people know it doesn't do anything...what's the point?

I say that is the point exactly.

People want to make a show of support for a cause that they support, even though that have no meaningful understanding of that cause; but they are unwilling to put out any actual effort or make any actual sacrifice.

So what they do is to perform a meaningless ritual that accomplishes nothing whatsoever, and requires no effort and no meaningful sacrifice at all; and they try to convince themselves and others that they did something meaningful and good, when they've done nothing at all of the sort.

Just wondering, do battery operated vibrators count?

No, they still use electricity, which gets produced by a NPP or a CPP.
But why don't you just use human power? ;)

This slanderous capitalist lie is fabricated by the CIA on South Korean money, or the other way around. In North Korea, they do have all electricity they need. They simply use it for what is really important:

The word "slacktivism" was coined for things like this.
