But I bet the tour guides and Secret Service costs come out of the WH budget. That makes it his baby.

Actually, the tour guide payroll probably comes from the Dept of Interior, National Parks funds - and Secret Service comes from Treasury. Still, the Pres is just showing his support for the cuts and what's wrong with that? LOL!

Obama is basically holding his breath and jumping up and down in a fit of rage in a childish temper tantrum as a last ditch effort to get his way.

We are pointing out his actions are childish.

now the shills step forward and claim when the parents call the temper tantrum a temper tantrum, you feel it is a political stunt.

shutting down the tours was the political stunt. It solves nothing in the fiscal realm. Everyone with the bare minimum of a high school education that is not a shill would see that obvious truth.

Can we turn the question around? If deficits are super super important at the expense of everything then why should a cut to something like White House Tours that only less than 1% of Americans will ever go on...and it tends to be folks with connections to their representatives...be anything other than a requirement!

It has nothing to do with the money - as stated, I doubt that ending WH tours really saves much money.

It's the fact that Obama is looking for another political chip to throw into the ante that will be used to target Republicans and point the finger at them. "We're not giving any more White House tours because we have to save money...THANKS TO THE REPUBLICANS AND THEIR SEQUESTER!!!!"

I will say this - Obama can politik along with the best of them, even though he's taking advantage of a national constituancy that is possibly the dumbest ever to breathe American air.

The real point is that Obama chose the tours as one of the most visible effects (at least as he had hoped) of his sequester because it involved kids.
You know he drags kids into anything when he thinks he can score some points.
It just didn't work this time.
And he made Jay Carney into a pinata doing it.

Actually the only people that seem to be going crazy over the end of White House tours seems to be conservatives. I honestly think the majority of Americans don't give a damn.

For some reason I don't think conservatives are angry at the removal of the tour as much as they are the purpose behind its removal.

If they stop doing tours all of a sudden, that's fine with me. You won't see me shed a tear. My problem is that Obama is essentially yelling "SEQUESTRATION!" while pointing to the other side of the aisle to deliver blame on the decision.

Well technically cutting the White House tours was actually a reccomendation made by the Secret Service

Secret Service officials also told ABC News that the decision to cancel the tours was made by the White House, although the agency first proposed the move as a possible cost-saving measure. The Secret Service has to cut $84 million because of so-called sequestration; canceling public tours saves $74,000 per week, the agency said.

Well at this point everybody is blamed for Sequestration taking place. I dont' think it matters who is pointing fingers.

There's is a cost to sequestration and the secret service did recommend stopping the tours in order to save money.

$74k/wk is just under 5% of their cost cutting. I think that's a good move, considering some of their other cutting options like protection and forgery.

Let me guess...must be the sign of a massive coverup and requires a congressional/sente hearing even after the events are documented by an indepedent investigation.
