It is, I have other trackers but they are for specific things and sometimes don't have what I want.

I seriously doubt there is much of a difference. But i guess if i had piddled my money away on a stack of Blu Rays, I'd also want to feel good about that.
I'd love a way to rip all my DVDs onto a HD that could be hooked up through the port on my TV. I think I even mentioned that earlier. I just don't know if there are HDs that big yet, and I don't have enough ports on my TV without having to swap out a bunch of HDs. I know you aren't interested in changing out your collection, but Blurays don't scratch as easily. They have a heavy coating that protects them.

I HATE DVDs. I try to keep them organized, and people keep taking them out of the case, and then not putting them back in the right place. Then, the DVDs pile up on the shelf for weeks and i can't find anything without thumbing through hundreds of them. It's annoying and inefficient. As far as ports on tvs, many of them did come with S cables, but now that port is no longer available on newer models. Companies make more money by selling increasingly expensive peripherals instead. **** them. There are plenty of sites to get good quality media for cheap or even for free, and have them available on my computer. Many flat screens come with usb connections. Simply connect it to the back of the computer, or set up a wireless network. I'm working on getting something similar set up on my end right now.

Oh. Yeah, that's not a good economic solution, as you'd only get around 20-30 bluray movies on a 1 terrabyte hard drive or external flash drive.

Without extras, subtitles, and cutting some of the menu features - maybe a few more. Each blu ray disk varies in size because of the length and the PQ. Some are 20GB some are 40GB. The average size of main movie titles with one HD track varies between 20GB-to-30GB. But depending on the file size, the number could go up or down. However, one can also use a VLC media player and acquire movies and tv shows online from bit torrent sites (Piratesbay is but one), and each movie takes approximately 1.37GB. It's not "blu ray", but it is "High Definition." It's all about personal preference.

I think I have 3 or 4 usb ports on my TV. I can't remember. There might be a S-video cable back there, and a place for component cables. There's mostly HDMI ports, though.

Well, I was calculating at 50GB/movie, the most possible. And those hd torrents are crap, they can slap "HD" or "1080p" on those all they like, they're still crap.

Anyway, Superfly definitely needs to get the WD Sentinel 16TB external drive. At 40GB/movie he can cram 400 bluray movies on there, and all for the ultra cheap price of $1,699.99.

yeah but like Ev said, I think it'd go down significantly if I didn't rip everything on the disk, and just got the movie.

I don't know - there has to be an easier way to do this. This is the digital age -- there has to be way to watch movies without the clunkiness of a thousand disks in your collection. When we moved, we gave away about a thousand movies to our kids because it was just too difficult to store them.
