Would you go, or take family, to a doctor that you knew regularly smoked marijuana?

Simple question. I ask because I'm curious just how confident y'all would be in a Doc who you knew was a regular pot-smoker.

Choices will be yes, no and maybe. Need a sec to get the poll up (that sounds bad).

maybe. It depends on how I knew. If I knew him personally and knew he smoked that way, sure, I would go and let my family too. If I had an appointment and he came in smelling like he was just out in the car burning one, then no, absolutely not. Exactly the same way I feel about alcohol.

As long he wasn't under the influence when he is practicing medicine and didn't preach about it. I would have no real problem with him since my state legalize it ( and yes I know the Feds still ban it).

    Nope.

Smoking pot, IMO, is bad judgement for an adult. If people want to smoke it, fine, but I can also exercise my own judgement and find a different doctor. It's not like he's pumping cas or ringing up a beer sale, he's involved in a very serious business, and any incapacitation can affect his judgement.

I might if they were better than the other doctors I had. In moderation and having a fairly sound mind already they wouldn't necessarily be a bad choice. If they were a raging head, smoking a doob out back with the staff before I entered the building, then I'd have second thoughts.

I've worked with a lot of educated and intelligent physicians who didn't have a lot of compassion or common sense, which can be worse.

Not quite of the same caliber, lol.

One you may get charged the wrong price, one you may not diagnosed with a condition that could be fixed/cured if it had been diagnosed.

Not a chance, in fact, if I knew it for a fact (rather than just a suspicion), I'd turn him in to both the police and the AMA.

Sure. Why not? I'd probably trust a pot head more than an alcoholic.

Re: Would you go, or take family, to a doctor that you knew regularly smoked marijuan

My last family doctor, skinny as a bean pole, used to always counsel me about weight until he died from colon cancer in his early 60s. I haven't had a family doctor since and I only visit a clinic when I need to get a flu shot each year or when I have a particular ailment. Regular visits to the doctor gets you a lot of unnecessary tests and suggestions for drug use, that I personally oppose, so I don't bother.

Many things that cause death can be prevented, like don't walk off the curb into heavy traffic, but I'm old enough to know that eggs were good for you before they were bad for you before they were good for you - all fat is bad except now some fats are good and necessary - and my favorite, cholestorol drugs are life savers except for all those complications they cause your liver and other internal organs.

We all have to go sometime - enjoy life while you can, tell people you love that you love them every chance you get, be good to people and don't begrudge those who aren't any given day, and stay away from regrets, etc. - then, when it's your time to go, it won't be so bad.
