Here in KY we have KASPER, a drug monitoring database. If you live here, you better pray you are not a cancer patient or a doctor treating a cancer patient. You could both end up in the brokeback prison for the treatment of cancer pain.

The most egregious example is the CIA. Originally chartered to help USA CORPORATIONS overseas, but now operating within the USA.
It now has its' own armed troops, foot on the ground soldiers. Runs drones. Runs huge electronic intelligence gathering networks. All this with a Charter to help USA CORPORATIOONS. To me this implies fascism and I worry about complete domination of our gov't by CORPORATE/CIA allied interests as opposed to the people. Examples are our recent past resource wars. We were not attacked, but brought natural resources into our CORPORATE network. Next, the CIA will be running the drone program in the USA and I want to remind you that the USA has more of its' citizens in jail than any Nation on Earth. Jails are good business. Drones are good business. Resources are good business. Wars are good business, but let's not talk about these things, heah!

They have not shared that information with me. However, such prescribing is now a class D felony.

The CIA was originally set up as an agency which dealt only with intelligence gathering. However, it has to turned into something quite different.

It was a dark mark on the protections of speech and expression. There was also Japanese internment camps, Watergate, the Palmer Raids, the Red Scare, McCarthyism, etc, etc.

All of these were egregious violations of our liberties. But, guess what? We got through it, and things got a little better. And as long as we as a society value freedom, things will continue get better, even if there are bumps along the way.
Those whose lives were torn apart by these violations of liberties didn't exactly just get through it. Our government has resorted to tyranny many times, as I've shown in the examples I mentioned and as you've shown in the examples in your post. This is why I don't consider it paranoia to be concerned that we could become a police state. There is no guarantee that once the government abuses its power that it will always backtrack. We've had the Patriot Act for over a decade now and it's showing now signs of going away.

I think it was Ben Franklin who said, "Those who chose security over liberty soon shall have neither."

Thomas Jefferson said, "A government that can give you everything you want is also strong enough to take everything you have."
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

    Good afternoon, Pero.

Excellent quotes. We've been warned! Sad that some don't yet understand...but they will
