If Canell is referring to the Neoliberalism as defined in Wikipedia, then I'd say Neoliberalism is doing just fine.

Neoliberalism is a political philosophy whose advocates support economic liberalization, free trade and open markets, privatization, deregulation, and decreasing the size of the public sector while increasing the role of the private sector in modern society.

Neoliberalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Then that's a far different definition to it than I've been exposed to.

By that definition, neoliberalism is on life support. Obama won't be happy until we're Greece, part beta.

If it was on life support, unions wouldn't be going the way of betamax and our labor wouldn't be competing with just about every Asian and south-of-the-border country there is..

I kind of just revealed I'm old with that Betamax comment, didn't I. Should have gone with AOL or, better yet, Myspace.

Is this correct? A neo-liberal designed economy supports the profit making division being located overseas, e.g. Cayman Island post box corporation. BTW we have this now.

Absolutely has failed. Look what has happened in the last 10 years. Its has absolutely failed. It has failed also for the poor people across the world as well.

As far as I'm concerned, the public sector is just a giant union, except worse - you can't fight them. It's going to become a day when every other non-self employed worker is getting a W-2 from Uncle Sam. I fear those days.

As you can see, neoliberalism hasn't failed these formally poor people who are in what are catagorically called Newly Industrialised Countries (NIC's) are now prosperous billionaires. Part of the reason for the recent debt and deficit crisis was due to peoples inability to comfortably make sure that they pay back their loans and if not then they face the consequences and big government spending on military and "Security" (invasion of privacy).

Hard to tell, seeing how it has never been implemented. Going off the Wikipedia definition, we have almost always had a mixed economy, Can't say we've ever had free trade, privatization is a libertarian pipe dream that will never happen, deregulation will never happen, and ever since we've had a formal governing structure, it has increased its size without fail, into the gigantic bureau building bastard it is today.

Maybe it has worked in other countries, I don't know, but America has no examples to go by in this instance.

****, was anything more annoying than those AOL CDs?
