It's always fascinating to see a national figure render himself irrelevant with a single act or sentence. Ron Paul took himself out of the category of kindly, wise senior sage, a bit lovingly bonkers, and revealed that no one really knew him at all. With a single sentence, he tottered off the world stage into oblivion. Once the dust settles, he will simply be ignored forever. This will be difficult for his devoted followers who will try their best to prop him up, but he is gone. The media will use his remark to hurt his son Rand, by reminding everyone of what his father said every time Rand Paul runs for office.

Ron Paul will be the Libertarian "Weekend at Bernies."

It is Ron Paul spitting on every member of our military, every American who died in the Revolutionary War, WWI, WWII or otherwise gave his (or her) life in service to our country. He is literally delighting in the death of a Navy Seal in his comment of "he who lives by the sword, dies by the sword."

Ron Paul has always been a dispicable and amoral asshole, and probably the most anti-American member to ever serve in Congress.

I've posted this before. I will be very glad when I hear that old bastard has died. They can bury his gold and the bank deposit slips of all the angry-white men who turned him into a multi-millionaire for his anti-American and racist rantings.

It doesn't wash.

What "staffers?" He's not in Congress. He's just a sick old has-been.

Since when was such a quote an insult?

I do, absolutely. I'm tired of the cult of militarism in which every soldier is a hero and every critic a traitor. I'm thankful Paul has the guts to say what so many of us are feeling.

Ron Paul sucks at public speaking.

However, is what he said incorrect, in some way?

I regret the loss of this soldier. But it is written.

Matthew 26:52 "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.

Revelations 13:10 also mentions something about the destiny of Jesus's prophetic words. "If anyone is to go into captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword he will be killed. This calls for patient endurance and faithfulness on the part of the saints."

It means no disrespect to those who make their living in the industry of dealing death. It is simple a statement from the bible that happens to stand true at the face of logic and reason. It makes perfect sense. Those who have to bear the sword to protect themselves from the sword are far more apt to fall by the sword. Just as it is that a carpenter is more apt to smash his thumbnail than a baker or candlestick maker.

We lost a good guy though.

That is a lie. When did he ever say he NEVER read his newsletters? What he does claim, though, is that he did not read the issue(s) that are disputed.
