Re: is turkey your ally ?

Turkey and the United States have had an alliance for decades, and one that proved mutually beneficial to both nations. Foreign relations isn't about childish nonsense like having "friends", but rather who is willing to share your interests. There will be inevitable disagreements, the point is focus on areas in which there are considerable benefits from cooperation. Current political situations have cooled relations a bit, but the alliance should still be kept intact if at all feasible.

Not sure I understand. If Turkey is attempting to arm Islamist in Africa that would not be something an ally would do. Islamist and al Qaeda in particular are enemies of the United States.

Agreed. Nations don't have friends, they have interests.

Um, you dont have to do that in the states either. Probably best to know something about what you're criticising.

I'm not sure this is backed up by anything but what you see on fictional television, but if it were true personal choice has nothing to do with the concept of secularism.

Turkey has been supportive of Kenya, then the African Union and finally the UN's efforts to oust al shabab from Somalia and bring in a democratic transitional government.
