My greatest concern regarding the discussion about gun control is that it there seems to be some support for requiring gun owners turn over certain types of weapons that they currently legally own. I'm curious how extensive this support is. I'm not asking if you think such measures will ever be taken. I also realize there's another poll similar to this one, but that one's in terms of what you're willing to accept. I'd like to know, if you could have it your way, would you want to see confiscation or requiring that gun owners turn over "assault" (whatever that means to you) and/or military style weapons?

(hat tip to the member who gave me the idea for this poll, you know who you are )

I have an M1 carbine that looks better than this one (better stock) that was sporterized for me several years ago by my son. I canít see anyone coming after this weapon anytime in the near future. The only thing is, it doesn't look as scary without the bannet lug and flash suppressor. Much more accurate with the custom stock though.

As a general rule no, but under certain extreme circumstances maybe.

So far about 100 sheriffs offices and Texas have stated they will not enforce any gun law that they believe is unconstitutional. Texas has even threatened to arrest any federal agent attempting to take weapons or enforce an unconstitutional law. I think they will have an injunction, if the bill passes as written, for violating the ex post facto provision of Article I, Section 10.

Wow, I never knew about that. Who the **** thought they had the right to take someone's legally owned weapons, especially at a time when being able to protect yourself was so important? See, it's stories like that, that make people think that confiscation could happen.

I read an editorial from a judge that supports not only confiscation but stiff prison terms for anyone unwilling to turn over the guns. I am liking the results of this poll though. Seems DPers are sharper than some (probably most, lol) judges (not that I'm surprised).

Jeez- that's a little scary and concerning that a judge would think it, much less publicly express it.

I voted no only because there was no option for "**** no."

And here, we find the issue where liberals and conservatives come together to agree as they vehemently declare "Keep your goddamn hands off my goddamn guns."

100% so far have voted "No." See that, conservatives? We left-wingers aren't out to rip the 2nd Amendment apart and steal your guns. So how 'bout we all tone down our rhetoric?

depends. if someone is old and has nothing left to live for-sure

I would hope citizens would resist such a law with whatever means they had

but I would rather them kill those who created the law over those who have to enforce it
