He was famously against the war - hence the movement he started upon returning to the states. IMHO, revealing the violations of his comrades was the single most patriotic thing a soldier can do - of course, aside from any humanitarian act in battle.

First I'd be much happier with Hillary Clinton staying. Shes popular around the world and an effective diplomat.

Kerry may not be awful but he's certainly not many people's top pick. Fells like an awfully conservative/safe play when better people can be found.

Even if the number of well know applicants to the position are lacking. I'd be happier to see a lesser known and capable/smart person with new ideas.
Obama isn't getting rid of Hilary Clinton. Rather, she is stepping down. She said ever since she agreed to become Secretary of State that she would be in that position only for that term, and would step down afterwards. So no matter what fans of Hilary Clinton want, she ain't going to do it.

As for Kerry, what I've heard is that, originally, he was going to be nominated for Secretary of Defense, but that would he face too tough of a confirmation. So instead he'll be nominated for Secretary of State.

I don't think Kerry is that bad of a pick. He's a long time Senator and has sat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and is currently it's chairman. So I think he has all the chops necessary to be a Secretary of State.

Granted, I don't think he'll act with the same personal gravitas and charisma that Hilary Clinton did. But I do think he's well enough qualified for the appointment.

I'm just wondering where the outrage is regarding Pres Obama's picking of all white dudes for his cabinet spots. Haven't heard that yet.

you seem to have forgotten about his proposed appointment of susan rice to step in for hillary
wasn't the president who scuttled that decision

here's my challenge: identify female alternatives for each of those cabinet posts who would be better than Obama's selections

I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.
