Would You Give Up Your Guns?

First, I don't think is a realistic outcome of the current gun control debate. But I have seen many claim that if the day did come, that gun owners would overwhelmingly comply and hand in their guns. I request that only people who either currently own a firearm or have in the past vote in the poll, but obviously all are welcome to post and discuss it.

Yes. If its democratically brought forth and gone through the proper legislative process, and the only way they would do that is repeal the 2nd amendment, but that will never happen.

I would probably bury them in a sealed water-resistant container before I would ever turn them in.

The last AWB/Magazine limit lasted ten years (1994-2004) and applied only to manufacture, importation and sales after the laws effective date, all existing guns/accessories were "grandfathered in" making it have few negative effects on existing guns owned (except perhaps getting a replacement part or a spare magazine). I hope that our federal congress critters, and state/city gov'ts legislators, are not dumb enough to try to make guns/accessories now legal become illegal and subject their law enforcement personnel to the wrath of otherwise law abiding armed citizens. That would be a huge mistake and likely cause such a lack of trust in gov't as to cause a huge backlash from the voting public. As "popular" as gun control may be, and as naive as some are, that really believe that "criminals" would be impacted "the most" by such laws, it would have the effect of turning many law abiding citizens into instant "criminals" with the stroke of a pen. What sense is there in being a criminal, if you can't even act like one?

To clarify, I think most people would hide them.

I think you're right. I think if there was going to be a riot, it would have occurred when the militia was disarmed in 1987. Unless you have a Class-3, the only type of gun you can buy is a hunting/personal-defense gun. 99% of all military firearms were taken off the market in 1987. Of the remaining 1%, those are personal defense guns the military just happens to also use, like the M9.

I have a strong feeling this country's fate was sealed the moment the public accepted hand outs. There's a part of me that feels it's all over, it's now just a matter of time before we become a dictatorship like every other democracy before us. So, yeah, I won't fight the storm. I'll ride the wave and maybe live long enough to hold my grandchildren.

Then again, maybe I'll be hit by a bus tomorrow.

Vacume sealing is an effective way to preserve a firearm for long-term cold storage. Just make sure it's bone dry before you seal it. No grease, nothing.

Yeah I was thinking that plus a lot of those water absorbers and a new family cemetery behind my house
