I'd say yes, because the pledge is effectively a statement of fealty to a government taught to kids as young as 4. They recite it daily, not really knowing what they're saying, and often under the impression that it's mandatory. Our nation has a long way to go in terms of civil liberties and foreign policy before I'll start saying the pledge again.
