It has nothing to do with the level of urgency and everything to do with being believable. Loons are not an asset to any cause.

Well that's the trick, isn't it - the loon is just as likely to run off at random leaving your six open without you knowing it. That's MUCH more dangerous than being in the foxhole by yourself and knowing you have to watch your own back.

Alex Jones just might have met HIS defining moment with this whole gun control era we're in.
He defines the gun movement as a bunch of spittle-flecked nut-jobs with anger issues. It's not a good look.

You know, I really liked that description of him. I actually read a good part of Don Quixote de La Mancha, from which that reference comes from and found it to be really good. For anyone like me who does believe that many western powers are slowly tightening their grip of control on their populations, it can seem to be insane to go charging at the very people who are doing this. Ofcourse, the other way of looking at it is that if you believe that tyranny is approaching and you do nothing, then, as Benjamin Franklin once said, "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety"

The beauty of that line, in my view, is that we all determine what liberties are essential to us. For those who feel they still have enough, clearly they think that it's best to simply let things continue as they are.

I would, but not necessarily all of them. Anyway, I've opened up a thread over in the conspiracy forum here regarding Alex Jones and his web sites, as I imagine this subject holds more interest for them in general than it would for your average DB poster:

I dont think hes crazy at all. I think hes trying to make a name for himself and make $ outta ridiculous CT theory crap. To him its all a gameshow, an attempt to grab his 15 mins of fame stretch it out as long as he can and rake in as much $ as he can.
The only ones I'd call crazy are those that think this guy is on the level, though I believe gullable would be a better word for it.

Alex Jones just plays the victim card the whole time and wont even answer a question. Is Alex Jones crazy?!
This is not the thing to do.......the man in the street playing psychiatrist....or even judging another based on so little.
Worse yet, I have no audio and U tube is generally of lousy quality..
If I knew the man directly and could spend some time with him......then a different story..
We, as a people are too quick to judge.
    Thus - no vote.

He has some signs of a manic disorder. Pressure of speech, flight of ideas, hyperactivity and delusions are all apparent in this interview.

And where did you get your degree allowing you to make that type of designation? Oh, you're not a psychologist? Didn't think so, and I'm not either, but I would recommend that you read a bit more of the schizophrenic label you are trying to apply,

That said, I would not argue if you simply said that he is some sort of functional "crazy", but I know a good number of people that are similarly quirky / crazy, but they are still good people at heart.

'Tis the internet, what good would stating my qualifications do?

Mania is not necessarily a component of schizophrenia, which I certainly don't think Mr. Jones has. People with manic disorders aren't necessarily bad people either. He does have the signs though.

Violetn crimes have not seen a "drastic change" like Alex kept on saying they have. Nothing has been "drastic" about the crime rate. If anything they have been going on an average trend of downwards.

Crime also did not "skyrocket". That stat has always been held as the "holy grail" for "pro gun" people and crime actually has been going down and continues that way for the UK to this day.

Alex has yet again not been misinformed buy seems to be using out to dated stats. Typical...
Yes, and the article I posted explained how that data you put up as manipulated statistics that don't make an adequate comparison of pre and post 1998.
