Yes I know its kinda late but we took down the Xmas tree today and was just wondering do you have a real or fake Xmas tree or none at all and why?
As for me we use a real one, makes the house smell nice.

We went out and cut a live tree for years...until my wife's 'new' stepmother gave us her fake tree. We have used it for 20 years now basically honoring her. We do cut boughs for wreaths and centerpieces which DO 'smell' up the house favorably.

Erecting a Xmas tree is venerating a pagan ritual and an abomination of the deeply held religious convictions upon which Xmas is based.

Real. We had a fake tree when I was kid. I hated it. A flocked monstrosity, though I didn't fault my mom and never said a bad word against it.

Of course it's easy to say real, when you live in the state that dominates Christmas tree production. :) I really like the aroma and I had a particularly odoriferous tree this year. It still smelled good as my son dragged it out the door. :)

Seriously? It's nothing more than a tradition for most people.

Real. Real. Real. Real. Real.

Fake is for wankers.

i vastly prefer real, but i can't bear to watch the tree die in my living room for my own amusement. if i had a family, i might reconsider. it's not like i cut it down myself, and little kids should know what Christmas is supposed to smell like.

right now, i have a cheapo fiber optic little tree, which died a few days before Christmas. i tried to repair it, but was unsuccessful. probably will toss it and get another one.

So im guessing you dont put up a tree then?

We use fake artificial Christmas trees. Seems like a huge waste of money to buy a new tree each year and a waste of a perfectly good tree.

We always recycled ours. Let dry, burn off needles, trim a few branches, weight down with concrete blocks and sink near dropoffs in nearby lakes...WORKS GREAT!

Same here, grew up with a fake tree, as soon as I got married we started buying real trees. So far, that's 19 real trees in a row, have no interest in changing.

Fake, cheaper, easier, done.

Anyone erecting a Xmas tree is committing a sin and most likely will end up in hell.

Fake. We used to do real but we have gas heat which means I end up with needles everywhere. Plus, we do not put it up until a few days before Christmas which makes it harder to find a real one. The Christmas tree farm we used to go to is closed by the time we get around to doing it. I also just hate killing a tree for no reason and the live trees are such a huge pain to deal with.

Artificial tree. In fact, since this is the best time of year to buy one (50-75% off regular price), I bought a new one pre-decorated with pine cones and berries. While I love the smell of pine trees, I don't believe in celebrating Christmas by killing a tree. My parents lived in Virginia. Every year they'd buy a live tree, then plant it on their property after Christmas. Where I live it's too hot and dry for pine trees to survive a summer even with special care, so artificial is best for me.

Well at least I`ll be warm :)

You're eternal soul is at stake. I need to help you save it.

Help me help you.

You know, they are farmed for the purpose of harvesting for market, like corn or wheat or anything else? They just take a bit longer to grow. It's not like cutting one down on a random hill. I wouldn't do that, it would be wasteful.

Real, and live....plant it in the yard after Christmas....

Allergies prevent me from having a real tree.

I have a friend who used to do that, then he ended up having a forest in his yard and had to cut them all down.

I'd prefer a real tree instead of our fake one (though the fakes look much better than they used too!) but too much pine makes me (literally) sick. It's not like I have allergic reactions being near them outdoors or smelling them but prolonged exposure - like in a closed up house in winter - is not nice to me.

We do have a real one in the yard, though. :)

Fake. My stupid dog drinks the water and we always seem to have a child capable of and ignorant enough to drink it as well lol.
