Even knowing the criteria, I just don't think that Obama is a good pick. His presidency just isn't that influential compared to other ones. The industries that he "saved" are largely beneficiaries of bailouts started under the Bush Administration. The Iraq War ended as the result of an agreement signed by Bush, and Obama tried and failed to extend it. The three main bills signed under him: the stimulus, Obamacare, and Dodd-Frank were largely watered down or didn't completely overhaul the system. It's also worth noting that that all of this happened before 2012. Certain people weighed much more heavily on the world consciousness. Personally, I think that Netanyahu or Merkel would have made a better choice.

Well, at least Time is consistent with its readers as to what manner of leaders they admire and what form of government they want.

Of course they would. It's not as if merit really matters to these people.

Well did anyone think ABC and Time Mag. wouldn't take the chance to try and pump up Obama as having a successful Presidency. Anything to change historical facts, now.

I think people lack an understanding of what Time's Person of the Year Award is.... It is not like NL MVP or the Academy Award's Best Actor, but it is the "...a person, group, idea or object that "for better or for worse, ...has done the most to influence the events of the year...."

Time Person of the Year - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That question is who best personifies 2012? Maybe Grover Norquist?

...which would have been an excellent choice in a non-election year, but unfortunately, its hard to argue that she best defined the year. Although, an argument could be made that here is a highly principled, courageous young women in contrast to the US elected officials that lack the courage to even tell you what they think...

The morality of abortion is not a religious belief, any more than the morality of slavery, apartheid, rape, larceny, murder or arson is a religious belief. These are norms of the natural law of mankind and can be legislated even in a completely religionless society.
