So Bismark is the exact definition of a true conservative? To the point where no series of words could make us understand better? Amazing.

No dude, I said it was how I perceived the closest way to be a conservative. I do not know what a true conservative is because it was not the term I used. It was a term used by the OP and I attacked that term and the term conservative when describing santorum. Nothing more.

Now. You can either sit there and pretend to be smart or you can actually do yourself a favor and go study a bit about the man and see what he was about. If you do a good job the end result will be a less troublesome "pretend to be smart" act that you try to pull every time. It is not convincing.

Bismarck created the first system of 'socialized' health care in history.

Was Bismarck a conservative? Absolutely. Was he vastly more rational, more level-headed, more far-seeing than anyone in American conservative politics today? Absolutely.

Re: Would Santorum Have Beaten Obama?

I think Santorum would have done better than Romney. He would have gotten more electoral votes, but not enough to win. He was a ridiculous candidate, but he didn't have the flip-flopping problem that Romney had. Romney flip flopped more than a catfish you've just pulled out of a lake. I think Santorum would have gotten more of the Republican base out. Much of that base was too disgusted with Romney to come out and vote.

You're almost right. Bismarck was a conservative. Today's Republicans are not. They're far-right plutocrats.

How likely do you think a Santorum win would have been if he had gotten the nomination?
santorum would have been blown out of the water

He's a social fascist and economically not much different from Obama. Lots of people would have voted third party who voted for Romney. . His nutty views on abortion were like that idiot in Indiana who pissed away a sure GOP Senate hold or the twit in MO, who cost the GOP a take away over the pathetic Claire MnCaskill
