Stop right there. That's a better thread topic. "Is it racist:" (similar to the "will it blend" show) and let people present their own scenarios.

Language has nothing to do with race, so I wouldn't call any issue of language racist.

Popular perception would disagree, but technically you're correct. There are many peoples of the same race that speak different languages.

then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

Immigrants tend to be highly entrepreneurial, creating jobs here in the United States. Research from the Small Business Administration suggests that immigrants are more likely to start a business than are non‑immigrants: while they are only 12 percent of the U.S. population, immigrants represent 16.7 percent of all new business owners in the United States. Immigrants own businesses in a variety of industries and make substantial contributions to both low-skilled and high-skilled sectors: 28.4 percent of businesses owned by those with less than a high school education are owned by immigrants, and 12 percent of businesses owned by those with a college education are owned by immigrants. Overall, immigrants own 10.8 percent of all firms with employees, providing job opportunities for thousands of Americans.

The Many Contributions of Immigrants to the American Economy

For example, immigrants are responsible for 20% of economic output and make up 20% of the population in these 25 metropolitan areas. In other words, immigrants pull their own weight.

Illegal aliens contribute about as much to the public coffers in taxes as they receive in benefits. New data suggests the undocumented pay about 46 percent as much in taxes as do natives, but use about 45 percent as much in services. A poll of the most respected economists found a consensus that both legal and illegal immigrants are beneficial economically.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

Still waiting for those three people to explain to me how it is racist to insist that certain qualifications be met before one is granted citizenship.

Are you aware of why this is? I'm not going to argue that a lot of immigrants start businesses, but that still does not mean that we shouldn't insist that immigrants know the main language used in the country.

Okay, for one thing, this is not so easy to prove, considering the fact that they are undocumented. This is only a guesstimate, and I highly doubt that it is accurate, considering the fact that the only thing they are going on is those who DO pay taxes and there is no way to know for sure how many do not. Another thing is that you cannot tell me that there are not MANY illegal immigrants who receive benefits on behalf of their US-born children.

And we had a more liberal immigration policy we could better identify, locate, and regulate these folks, but let's stick with the program that has served us so well. With 8% of the births in the US being to at least 1 illegal parent per Pew it will just be a matter of time before it becomes a moot point.

Explain what you mean by a "more liberal immigration policy" please.

Can you please repeat that post in Chinese, Greek and Spanish for those immigrants that lack English skills.
