Re: Black Friday vs Buy Nothing Day

No way in hell I am going to fight crowds in town to buy stuff today. I am going to work on some pastels that I am giving as gifts, and do my usual work-around-the-house stuff. I value my sanity too much to expose myself to Black Friday shopping mania.

my daughter is too busy to shop this time of year unless it is on line....she spends a lot of time on the computer finding deals, posting them on her site, and watching the commissions rack up when people link to stores through her site. She, and her business partner, made $3500 in commissions in one day from ONE store.....plus what they got from all the other stores they link to...
The internet is amazing....lots of things have come along and changed the world, but I think the internet will be the biggest of them all...

I've worked retail before on this day. It is hell to put it mildly. People go insane and as a worker you have to be a sheep herder throughout your shift. I have refused to even go within a 5 mile radius of a retail store on this day.

I chopped firewood this morning and will go fishing thirty minutes from now. The only thing I'll be buying today is gasoline for my outboard motor and bait.

    The wife.......now that's a different story entirely....

Having said all that this year is a little bit different....I did order all the part necessary to build her a new computer...I was astonished at how cheap it was to get ALL the parts necessary to build her an amd 8 core powerhouse...which is far more than she needs for what she does...but it was so damn cheap lol....

Seriously, cash, the best gift of all.
