Do you like the electoral college voting system?

I think it is interesting that no one proposes to have the HoR elect the President even though they represent their districts. I would think that was an option when the Constitution was written but yet the electoral college was what resulted. The power in the hands of the state legislatures to decide how electors are selected. Why would we want our state to go along with what any other states do? Experimentation is always best done at the local or state level. Unfortunately everyone seems to want to experiment at the federal level where mistakes are magnified.

Of these two, I'd rather have a popular vote than some bastarized popular vote.
i am going to say your right, that the system is corrupt, and america of the founders, is not returning..........(i do know this)

but just like the Prophets of the bible who preached of Israel's downfall hundreds years before it happened, so am i doing the same thing.

many people believe in their minds what the things they are doing is making things better for themselves and america , it is not, it is taking america down a path of destruction, and its not going to stop.

the founders warned us, not to do what we are doing, and they were men of great vision, ...... the men, with less vision today are winning, because people are not interested in truth and reason, but only, "what will i get out of this"

they were also the men, who gave us a nation in less than 200 years, that achieved so much.

you have shown contempt for the founders, and what they believed, you seek the courts to give you reason for what you want.....and that is sad.

because your going to be disappointed, with your future.

I'd prefer a Parliamentary system where the Chief Administrator is appointed by the Legislature. We could scrap the Presidential Election and all the hyperbole and hubris that goes along with it altogether. I'm certain that donors could find much better uses for all those campaign funds.

i am going to para-phrase something i already posted, from a great thinking man, named James Madison

IF the (voting population) are the only ones to determine the politicians, this nation has for its federal offices, president ,senator and congressmen,, .....then that is the very definition of tyranny!

instead of listening to the men who created our government, we listen to men, who do their own interpretation of it.

Re: Do you like the electoral college voting system?

    Hello everybody!

I voted for the reform option on the poll. I believe that the winner take all version in use by most of the states does not accurately reflect the opinions of the people. I think a look into some of the suggested models made in previous posts (or those in use in the two states that are not winner take all) could go a long way towards making the E.C. more representative of the popular vote and would not require an amendment to the Constitution.

Needs a little reform. I think Rocket's idea of using congressional districts is perfect actually. Win the district you get those electors, lose it, the winner gets them. Simple.

Re: Do you like the electoral college voting system?

I voted "No, I think there are better alternatives. "

Id like to see a direct vote with 3 main parties minimum that are nominated.

Id like 1st, 2nd and 3rd place to go president, vice(leader of a house) and leader of a house

id also like it so that representative and senate terms match and be off set of the president elective and that a majority is NOT allowed

of course these takes some more work than just what im sayign here but thats whay I would like
