That's a sophistic anology.

Not at all, taxpayers are expected to shut up and pay for people who are little more than leeches on society. I certainly didn't start the analogy but I think it fits just fine.

That has been tried in the past thru-out this world..
The results were not good.

We are crying about too many on welfare...
Has anyone spoken to "welfare queens" and asked them how they feel about this ?????
I, for one, feels its a problem of hatred and intolerance, and these will "go away", but very slowly - thank you - conservatives.

Hatred and intolerance of people who abuse the system is what some might call a sense of fairness. When we have 3 generation families still on welfare then I do not particularly trust the judgment or veracity of those opinions. If welfare were so horrible I would think that the first generation would have taught the second or third generation better and how to learn from their mistakes/misfortunes.

The "welfare Queens" as you put it, ALMOST EVERY one of them got there though the choices they themselves made. But not finishing school to getting knocked up, THEY made those decisions. They had control of their lifes and the ****ed up it for themselves. They had any number of options they could have availed themselves of and DID NOT. Then they have the temrerity to turn around and attempt to blame those helping them to survive for their predecament? I have NO sympathy for them. I dont hate them. I just dont care about them or their plight. They had their chance. They blew it. Goverment overspending is eventually going kick these people to the curb anyhow. We cant afford it no matter how much we get taxed. People are starting to realize that. Wellfare is a luxery.

I feel the hatred.:(

No hatred involved, just justified frustration at being expected to foot the bill for other people's laziness.

they're not lazy...the system was rigged against them. they didn't have the same access to schools as you and I did. they didn't have the same opportunities....... oh wait....... they did.

:2bigcry:

I have no problem helping those who CAN'T help themselves. I have a big problem with being forced to support those who WON'T help themselves

First, refer to this image:

I am democrat, voted for Obama, I fall under lower middle class smack dab in the middle of it making my situation better than roughly 54% of Americans.

Lower Middle Class, Have an BS and a AS so I guess that makes me a professional? but my job is more professional blue collar since i work on a manufacturing floor. and im a independent. It be impossible for me to be anything else..

That's exactly why I oppose UHC.

It's one of many reasons I oppose it. However, we've become a lefty-liberalized nation now, where nobody has to work, nobody has to learn anything, everyone just has their hands out and expect to be taken care of.

Screw those people.

Yeah sure, nobody has to work, sure, sure.

Here's a bit of reality for you. In the state of California, in the past 25 years, 10 million new residents have arrived. Of those 10 million residents, 7 million of them are on medicare Of those 10 million residents, only 150,000 have filed income taxes. That's 1.5% of the newcomers who have jobs that make enough to pay taxes and 98.5% that do not.

You do the math.

Info provided by right wing financial advisors. Why did not they or Barron's predict the economic crash that started with the bush admin?

Why not? Because ass holes like them caused it.

You should count your blessings you're so far removed from the lower class that you don't realize how wealthy you are.

Not being poor has very little to do with being wealthy.

Not being poor has very little to do with being wealthy.

According to the majority of people on the planet, you *ARE* wealthy.

My experience with the "silver spooners" is they are typically republican and talk about poor taking their wealth when in fact most has been given to them. In the business I was in before i was told by one of them I would never make it to their level and far exceeded it only for them to concede they were in the wrong. That bubble burst, but I take great pride in knowing socially and income basis on my own hardwork, intellect, and merits I will before I'm 30 climb to upper middle and maybe if the time and ideas are right, even better than that. I sort life with a series of achievements and milestones one of those being economic superiority. To me, that ensures i can help my family and others in need while not having to ever worry about debt.

I take great pride in knowing Ive never used entitlements even when I could have. At the same time I understand some arent as resourceful as I am or aren't given the chances so these programs are beneficial to them and all of us.

Well, I talk about the poor taking because I, like you, made it from poor to on the verge of wealthy on my own. Why? I did it because I didn't enjoy childhood in a poor household and wanted to earn the privilege of putting a silver spoon in the mouth of my kids. I can't stand parents who don't make sacrifices to give their kids a better start than they had. Excluding major catastrophes, the descending lineage of a family should be a nondecreasing sequence in terms of wealth if each descendent applies this strategy.

I fall in the lower middle class, but, naturally, hope to move up soon as I finish my Bachelor's Degree.

I am a conservative libertarian; and a strong proponent of free markets, federalism, limited government principles, decentralization/very small federal government, and an originalist interpretation of the US Constitution.

compare them tpo the western european countries and most americans are poor and have harsher working conditions.

When I worked for a major American broadcaster in London and Madrid our salaries were about one third lower than our opposite numbers working out of DC and Miami, even though, in London at least, the cost of living is higher than in the US. On the other hand, we had a standard 5 weeks holiday entitlement in the UK and 5 in Spain, although there you had to take at least 3 of those weeks in August, because Madrid effectively closes down in the summer.

As far as I can see, in Europe we are more cash poor, time rich. In the US you tend towards the opposite. I think it's a minor cultural difference.

yeah right. can I have some of what you are smoking? eurotrash rioting in the streets over their crappy economies and we arr poor and have harsher working conditions (may have a point there...if you aren't working, you don't have as harsh working conditions. :lamo )

Hello everyone! :2wave:

I fall under "working class" and I am a registered voter with no party affiliation.

I hope nobody is ever in my class. My class involves weight restrictions. And I mean the weight one can pick up. I'm on a 20 pounder. My class involves going to a cardiologist every three months. My class sucks not only being poor but also having all these other issues.

Lower Middle and I wrote in Ron Paul.
