If you can afford to buy new, you're not struggling.
Buy a beater then get some of that "new car smell" spray and save a lot.

I got help from my family when my dad worked third shift at a mill at night and farmed during the day. His mom scrubbed floors on or hands and knees at a hotel to make extra money which she used to buy land--little lots at a time. Inheriting a work ethic helps too. In fact, some might say that is more important, but whatever, 4th and 5th generation welfare families won't mean anything to those who do not care that there are 3rd generation ones now.

Top Tip o'the Day, Mr LA! And when buying second-hand, always buy German or Japanese. Those Axis boys know how to make cars that last.

Upper middle class doesn't spend time under their house redoing all the plumbing

I must take a very similar stance..
I care not for categorying people into "classes"....something about this which, IMO, is not good..
As to the plumbing.....I feel that one is indeed "upper middle" as they do their own plumbing.....otherwise, its the poor house...lol
Those who claim "conservative and Christian", I wonder about...IMO, it cannot be both !

Oh, I do not know...our vehicles are better than the general perception....old "intelligence" dies hard...
But, the '96 Saab and the '97 Honda do well for us.
Our auto manufacturers were destroying themselves a generation ago or so when they knew NOT the market and over paid both the worker and the executive.
    I hope they have learned.

I think that welfare has been reformed/improved many years ago, but it may need some more improvement.

Apparently for some the only way to break the cycle of dependence is going to be to stop giving them anything.

No, Obama is the super rich's hero. Romney wanted a $25,000 maximum deduction.

The maximum tax deductions for the rich under Obama is $100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.00

The super rich LOVE OBAMA. He gives them hundreds of billions of dollars. Personally - literally personally - exempts them from having to provide their employees "ObamaCare" and gives them UNLIMITED tax deductions from their income.

Democrats LOVE the super rich and will give them anything and everything they want.

Who Democrats hate is the old couple that own the corner dollar store. They want them destroyed because they offer token competition to WalMart. Democrats love WalMart more than anything else on earth.

Sleeping with a liberal is very nice. They tend to do what feels good (in the morning too) rather than follow someone else's rules.

According to the following article the $25,000 maximum deduction would hurt the middle class far worse than the wealty:

Higher Taxes For The Middle Class

First, for many middle-class families the size of Romney’s bucket is just too small. They would have less to deduct than they do today — meaning that tax payments would be higher.

For example, many middle-class households deduct not just mortgage interest but also property taxes and state income taxes.
Combine these costs together and it’s not hard to top $25,000. In other words the $25,000 in deductions and credits that Romney is talking about represent a cap,
the absolute maximum that a middle income family could shield from taxes.

It’s a way to reduce or eliminate the home mortgage deduction by another name.

    <SNIP>

    Rich Folks Income Untouched

However, if your income comes largely from dividends, interest or capital gains there would be no tax on the money that flows through to you.

Now just look at your neighborhood. How many people on your street get a lot of their income from dividends, interest or capital gains?
Unless you’re street has a lot of mansions the betting is that few if any of your neighbors get the majority of their money from anything but their labor, whether their labor is teaching in school, running a computer, farming or fixing pipes.

Romney packages his tax proposal is a boon to the middle class.
In fact, many members of the middle class would see deductions fall and taxes rise while members of the Romney class would see lower taxes and fatter bank accounts because of his promised 20 percent general tax cut.
