Should dirt be allowed to vote over people?

Should dirt be allowed to vote?

Despite what the conservatives are telling themselves, people voting for this or that political party has a much to do with their local culture (or more even) as it is about material goods.

Culture may play a part. But generally and for the most part a person is more likely to vote for whoever says they will give them stuff. People are greedy and will ignore culture if it means them getting free things. And this applies to all levels of society. Be they rich or poor.

If this were true then my district would have voted democrat.

Oh the stats on who gets federal money is very true. Welfare moms, money in excess of what is sent in, federal support for rural power, water, nutrition sites, ambulance service, down to supporting tiny school districts- all at taxpayer expense.

What might not be so true is the concept of this is all about parasites versus taxpayers- the well paying jobs are few and far between in rural areas. Heck in SW OK, any job would be prized. I'd wager a shiny Libertarian nickle most folks in Cotton county, Ok don't pay federal tax. Median household income is approx 44K, 13% below the poverty line. 30% of the households are single parent, 52% of the men and women work. 6000 folks living in approx 600 square miles.

It reminds me of the lil ol' lady crying at the town hall meeting before the '10 elections- she trilled over the very idea of the Gubmint getting involved in her life, but in the next breath demanded social security and medicare continue!

So I tend to believe there is a lot more to the Blue or Red of it than who has their hand out.

What the map shows is that a system of a federation of independent states with a federal system primarily only for defense and state border-crossing type issues - with a standard universal Bill of Rights - made more sense. North Dakota and NYC have little in common interests. Overall, rural America and urban America should for the most part be governed differently for their differences.

That never seemed to bother you before?

While I normally don't respond to such garbage, I feel that calling someone a racist is the height of scumbaggery. See album for pics of me living in Africa and my Kenyan girlfriend.

I disagree. I think stuff is a part of it, but doesn't nearly play the role people who wish to make excuses for their loses claim it does.

Funny thing about this is that I didn't lose anything. I didn't vote for Obama or Romney and got exactly what I wanted in the House and Senate. So me making excuses isn't correct. IMO the things that matter when it comes to voting for the majority of people, in order of importance is money, religion, and political ideology. I've even seen people totally disregard thier religion and political ideology just to save or get a buck or two.

I wasn't necessarily speaking to you directly.

I assume you have evidence to back this up. I look forward to the study you will present me. Personally, what I have seen is that different people will prioritize different things and everyone is different.

Hello everyone! :2wave:

I voted No on this poll; but the person in the image below would probably vote Yes!
