I got my combat arms bonus then went to admin school, so I was a grunt for a minute.

    Right?
No, I do have an issue, I do not beleive Mr. Bush ran on a platform that said, elect me and I'll invade Iraq. It wasn't until 2002 he started focusing on Iraq and invaded before the 2004 election.

He had no mandate to go to war.
What transpired was that democracy worked and the elected officials made the call in supporting both war initiatives. That is why there are elected representatives of the people, they are empowered to make decisions on the people's behalf when unexpected things come up.

The only mandate here is how the American public failed to make ANY SIGNIFICANT CHANGE. To expect anything different for the next two years is ridiculous.

I'd say no. But Republicans should disagree with me.

Bush won in 2004 with a smaller margin, smaller EC victory and smaller popular vote (last one largely due to demographic growth) and was declared to have won a mandate. If Bush got a mandate, then Obama should as well. You cannot reasonable argue that in 2004 Bush had one and Obama who has a bigger margin and landslide EC doesn't and not be a ranging partisan hacktard.

Will you drop the land > people argument? It was stupid and old when you made it on Whistlestopper and it's stupid and old here.

I think that critisms people had about his first term and winning has made him motivated to keep those promises. Be it immigration reform, winding down the wars, working towards solving budget and deficit issues, and trying his best to keep unemployment down. By all accounts real employment has only gained 200k jobs since he took office and while that's great more needs to be done and his policies and ideas are sure to encourage growth if they are implemented in meaningful ways.

In theory, some of those loopholes were understandable, but in practice they sometimes made it possible for millionaires to pay nothing, while a bus driver was paying ten percent of his salary, and thatís crazy." -Reagan

I don't see how anyone can look at the vote tally and consider it a mandate. Obama seems to be treating it that way though which might get him in trouble.
