well I will ask you another way

should we be allowing people legal entry or legal citizenship after illegal entry if they are going to be a drain on the safety net?

Your are mistaken because the second I started this thread I drafted the poll questions. Have you ever posted a poll on this forum? If so you would know the fact that the initial posting is up on the board before the poll questions appear.

Based on those assumptions, what should be done with our immigration policies
Perhaps they are not well educated or have skilled trades but they are willing to work hard and do the jobs that you nor I would ever do. You should be grateful.

Now that I can answer! No, we should not. Immigrants wanting to come to this country LEGALLY should not be eligible for any welfare payments for at least five years after entry. And, in my opinion, they should have to prove they have the job skills or the assets to support themselves before they arrive. If they don't have the assets? Then family can pledge for them. But we just simply cannot put these people on our welfare programs. Jesus Christ.

Sadly the message that comes across loud and clear behind them motivation of this thread is that somebody believes the wrong people are voting the wrong way for the wrong candidates and electing the wrong people into the wrong offices and then using those offices to do the wrong things ..... so ....... we should do something so that the people they think are right and good will vote for the candidates they think are right and good and only the right and good people will get into office and do the right and good things to benefit folks like them.

I am not grateful if they are using the safety net. if they are working hard and paying their way that is different. and I don't blame just the democrats who want more votes for allowing this mess. plenty of GOP business owners like illegals or legal unskilled labor to help suppress wages

Turtle , can you ease it up a bit? A sense of humor would go along way here on your part.

the problem is the fact that a majority of these people vote themselves more benefits the rest of us pay for. And yes, that means they support your party because your party is the one that is most likely to redistribute income.
