Sorry, there was supposed to be an "Other" option.

Re: Your Duties As An American

I saw many things that are my responsibility. But pitching in when asked was not among them. To me just voting is not enough. It is my job as a citizen to work for America. Take the time to volunteer whenever I am called on to work at the voting stations, help in emergencies, among other things. Too many people think this country owes them something. Sorry but for the most part it doesn't not in the sense that I have heard some people talk. It is our job to work as a country (E Pluribus Unim) to help it and make it better.

My duties are to take care of myself, live up to my responsibilities, and be a lawful citizen.

Best answer yet. Those who fail at this basic mission, personal responsibility, are somehow now seen as "victims of society" rather than asked to make any personal lifestyle adjustments they are handed a gov't "reward for faliure" check and given a big hug by the demorats. USA, USA, USA...

Owning guns, having faith, and defending overseas interests aren't things to expect of an American citizen.

However, voting, being sensible, etc are our duties. The sort of things that you can't go wrong with.

It is not my duty as American to go overseas and "spread freedom and democracy".

I voted "to pay taxes" because that's my legal obligation. My sense of patriotism disappeared yesterday. I have no president.
