While the majority of the citizens would like statehood, the rich would not, of course. Status quo.

I read somewhere a few years ago that Puerto Rico's current status is the best of all available options, and that that is a big reason they always choose the status quo.

then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

If Puerto Rico becomes a state then we will have to merge Rhode Island into Connecticut or Delaware into Maryland.

^yep. they get loads of benefits, and none of the overbearing restrictions/penalties they'd have as a state.

I'm not sure you can cut an American territory loose, though there has never been a precedent for it.

That's true for the wealthy people.......and the many, many unemployed here. However, many people realize they can't continue their dependency forever........

LOL well i didnt mean literally thats why i said if it was up to me, but im a nobody

I dont know the dynamics either to be honest but I dont see why not but then again my education on this particular matter is zero.
Can we force them to be a state?
What if they started doing something we disagree with genocide or something?

Remember this is not a statehood referendum.....just a "what would you like" kind of thing.
