If your candidate for president loses, what do you say will be the primary reason?

A majority of the people, even by electoral college count, preferred the other candidate. I have no qualms with that.

voters are stupid, lol.

As of this moment the poll clearly says 50% of people agree, voters are stupid.

Seriously.....

Only veterans should vote.... those who were willing to serve their country should have, the right to vote.

Those who don't serve could still enjoy the benefits of society, but just don't have a say on how things are run

Sounds like "Stormship Troopers", you're only a citizen when you serve the military.

Regarding the election, I'm split on the poll decision. 90% for "A majority of people preferred the issues of the winning candidate" and 10% for "The rich, bankers and corporations bought the election".

It is from Stormship Troopers and I love, the idea

Simple...the media does not report on 3rd party candidates, and people are not informed about their issues.

Because my candidate is not Republican or Democrat is why.

The public bought into the attack ads. and didn't get up off the couch to see whats what

If "my" candidate loses, it will be because more people voted for the other guy.

and if my team loses, it will be because the other guys played a better game.

or maybe it will be because the liberal press is so biased, the illegals all voted Democrat, and 47% of the population is dependent on the government. Sure, that's it, sure.

Thank you, joko104, For making this multiple choice.

I had to go with "The media was biase against my candidate" and "IDK/Other".

I still feel that "Voters are stupid" is an intellectually dishonest choice for the majority of us 3rd party folks.
I honestly don't feel like it's an issue of intelligence with other voters, moreso an issue of a cowardice.

Agreed.

My primary reason wasn't on the list, however. Electoral college and winner takes all are silly.

My candidate will lose because the republicans and democrats have most of the people in this country trapped into believing they have to vote for the lesser of two evils not the best candidate to run our country.

The first option is probably closest. But I would say that, if Obama loses, it will be more a testament to his failure as a leader than to his policies. If the people thought Obama's policies were wrong for this country, I think we would be seeing a blowout similar to 2010. The fact that this is so close even despite the slow pace of the recovery and the dramatic results of the 2010 election to me indicates that people are cooling to the conservative ideology and are not enthusiastic about Republicans taking control, but a slim majority doesn't see any way around it. JMO.

While I don't agree with precisely this requirement, I do believe there need to be tighter qualifications to vote. Democracy in most scenarios is purely illogical. I can easily come up with a math problem that the majority will get wrong, but obviously most of those strong in math will get right. Let's face it. People don't vote with a thorough understanding of many, if any, of the qualifications necessary.

I propose there should be certifications available reflecting sufficient knowledge on certain topics. If you hold a certification in a topic, you can vote with respect to that topic. The votes determine a set of scores which are then combined for an overall score. For your idea, Gomer Pyle can vote on the ability to perform as commander in chief, but maybe not on how they'd influence the ecomonomy. For those who oppose this as the deciding factor of a candidate, we should at least do such prior to election so the public sees a true "grade" of the candidates on each subject.

None of the above. My Candidate didn't win because I don't have a Candidate. I am not supporting anyone winning (Frankly we lose some either way), I am supporting Obama losing.

One of many good Ideas from Starship Troopers, there were others in there also. It is perhaps the greatest book on Political Theory ever published. While a good idea, I however would support some others being allowed also. Cops and Firemen come to mind as risking their lives for the good of all. Unfortunately, I know of no way to truly measure whether someone will look at the good of all instead of acting selfishly or in the interest of the few instead of the many.

It is also an idea that only really works when there is/was an all volunteer force.

You've convinced me. I'm now voting for Voldemort. Why vote for the lesser of the evils?

I don't have a candidate so I voted for all of the choices that will be true regardless of who wins.

I favor no candidate, and most voters are stupid. Time and time again people get suckered into the lies of politicians.

I would have to say I pretty much agree. But we do have to choose between those actually willing to run. Good people generally stay away from running, especially at that level. I blame it on the fact that while we have an abundance of career politicians, we have no Professional Politicians.

No, we don't. No one has to vote if the candidates are garbage. We shouldn't have to choose between the lesser of two evils. Most people are easily-manipulated pawns pitted against eachother by men and women in power. It's a shameful sham, and anyone with a sufficient degree of intelligence would notice how broken our political system is. I am so sick of the petty attack ads, the promises broken after the election, and the way the people plough on, oblivious to the way they've been hopelessly manipulated.
