If "my" candidate loses, it will be because more people voted for the other guy.

and if my team loses, it will be because the other guys played a better game.

or maybe it will be because the liberal press is so biased, the illegals all voted Democrat, and 47% of the population is dependent on the government. Sure, that's it, sure.

Thank you, joko104, For making this multiple choice.

I had to go with "The media was biase against my candidate" and "IDK/Other".

I still feel that "Voters are stupid" is an intellectually dishonest choice for the majority of us 3rd party folks.
I honestly don't feel like it's an issue of intelligence with other voters, moreso an issue of a cowardice.

    Agreed.

My primary reason wasn't on the list, however. Electoral college and winner takes all are silly.

If Romney loses it will be due to media bias. The media is virtually ignoring the Benghazi fiasco and if it was being reported on like it should be obama would be at 40%.

My candidate will lose because the republicans and democrats have most of the people in this country trapped into believing they have to vote for the lesser of two evils not the best candidate to run our country.

The first option is probably closest. But I would say that, if Obama loses, it will be more a testament to his failure as a leader than to his policies. If the people thought Obama's policies were wrong for this country, I think we would be seeing a blowout similar to 2010. The fact that this is so close even despite the slow pace of the recovery and the dramatic results of the 2010 election to me indicates that people are cooling to the conservative ideology and are not enthusiastic about Republicans taking control, but a slim majority doesn't see any way around it. While I don't agree with precisely this requirement, I do believe there need to be tighter qualifications to vote. Democracy in most scenarios is purely illogical. I can easily come up with a math problem that the majority will get wrong, but obviously most of those strong in math will get right. Let's face it. People don't vote with a thorough understanding of many, if any, of the qualifications necessary.

I propose there should be certifications available reflecting sufficient knowledge on certain topics. If you hold a certification in a topic, you can vote with respect to that topic. The votes determine a set of scores which are then combined for an overall score. For your idea, Gomer Pyle can vote on the ability to perform as commander in chief, but maybe not on how they'd influence the ecomonomy. For those who oppose this as the deciding factor of a candidate, we should at least do such prior to election so the public sees a true "grade" of the candidates on each subject.

Re: The reason if your candidate loses?

None of the above. My Candidate didn't win because I don't have a Candidate. I am not supporting anyone winning (Frankly we lose some either way), I am supporting Obama losing.

One of many good Ideas from Starship Troopers, there were others in there also. It is perhaps the greatest book on Political Theory ever published. While a good idea, I however would support some others being allowed also. Cops and Firemen come to mind as risking their lives for the good of all. Unfortunately, I know of no way to truly measure whether someone will look at the good of all instead of acting selfishly or in the interest of the few instead of the many.

It is also an idea that only really works when there is/was an all volunteer force.
Only a fool measures equality by results and not opportunities.
