Etch a sketch because of election
I agree with him. It blows my mind that people have come to look at the federal government as their savior. How in the hell did people ever get their lives back together without FEMA to step in and rebuild their lives?

He's NOT MY guy. I'm completely neutral and have already voted. It's just my lonely quest for truth and objectivism that makes me defend both Obama and Romney when I feel (IMHO) that accusations are false and distorted. I was just as vociferous when Obama's "you didn't build that" was deliberately taken our of context for political pirpose. The same thing is happening here.
Personally, I think FEMA is completely sensible as a Federal agency. That's not the point of my objection to this thread.
Ludicrous that we could even consider doing what Willard suggests, but lots of ludicrous people around these days...
Do states or local governments have a set amount of money for snow moval every year ?
What is done with those funds when it snows not (here in York county) ?
I think we have to work on the cost of borrowing money.
I'm kind of on the fence. I don't see why one state should have to pay because another state didn't collect enough revenue to prepare for a major disaster. On the other hand, these are all Americans we are talking about, and it's probably easiest and will require less from individuals in the long run if the federal government pays for the program, because it spreads out the cost over a much larger number of people. And just about every state is under threat of some kind of natural disaster, so it probably all comes back around eventually.
An alternative could be to have the federal government loan these states money, I guess.
