Who do you think won?

Personally, I say Romney won. He wasn't leading the argument by much, but he dominated Obama with content.

I think the moderator won. Seriously, I thought he did a good job. As far as the candidates go, I'm sure we all saw what we wanted to see according to our individual biases.

It was a tie. Now it's up to the spin to make it stick one way or the other.

Romney is now 3-0 in the debates. He should now have Ohio in the bag.

I scored it a tie on the other poll but you didn't allow that. based on what it will do, Romney had the edge. limiting it to what was said it was pretty much a draw on a topic that Obama should have had a huge advantage

I think Romney won. In my opinion Obama didn't adapt well to Romney's change of pace. In the beginning I felt Obama was doing better, but some of his zingers sounded good, but in reality didn't really have much substance to them... people who are partisan probably thought they were big scores.
After this debate, I trust Romney more then I did before, and I trust Obama less. Not saying they are the most trustworthy people ever, but I believe I have figured Romney out more then I have Obama. Romney may seem all over the map but his strategy is pretty obvious to see the motivation behind all of his stances... to me Obama is much harder to read.

Obama won on foreign policy. Romney won on the charge of the light brigade

I agree with this but for probably different reasons. Romney won in the first half because of Obama's attacks. In the second half they both returned to form and so Obama won. If Obama had kept his mind focused on his own plans and kept his answers confined to that it would have been a blow out like the second one.

Mitt won. He is a good man.I'm a Democrat but I know a God fearing man when I hear one.win or lose if you choose Obama we will all suffer.wake up America.

I thought Obama won, and I didn't think it was remotely close. As much as I am not a fan of Obama's domestic policies, I thought his foreign policies were pretty good overall, and he came across as more temperate last night, whereas Romney came off as some hot-headed war hawk.

How could anyone except for a complete right-wing tool say that Romney won the debate? Romney endorse Obama last night...how is that possibly a "win" for Romney.Romney displayed his foreign policy ignorance last night, didn't even know that Iran is not Landlocked and believed that Iran shares a border with Syria....how possibly could that be a "win" for Romney?Doh!

So DD...who won the first debate? We'll use this as a hypocrite "litmus test" to let those of DP see who the extremist ideologue is. I'm sure there are some people left on this site who don't know that anyone to the right of Pelosi is unfair and imbalanced.

Romney looked relaxed and confident as he watched the man-child President progressively lose his cool.

This may have been my favorite of all three debates. :)

I must be watching different debates. Every time I turned around, regardless of which debate it was, I saw Romney absolutely monopolizing the argument while acting like all moderators were cheating him when trying to give Obama even time.

Apparently 80% of the topics were supposed to involve him talking for several minutes, Obama having a 30 second counter-argument, and then Romney getting a filibuster retort.

He made Obama sound incompetent in the first debate, but the times when Obama was composed and able to go point-counterpoint, Romney kept going and made himself seem like an outspoken bully.

If I'm not mistaken, Obama got about 40 seconds more talk time than Romney did, so Romney was right to want more time. Though it's hard to get something 90 minutes long evenly split for both candidates.

You must be watching different debates. Romney was pretty passive this debate, however he kept Obama in his place when he tried to interrupt. He agreed with Obama on many topics. Obama wanted to differentiate himself from Romney, and Romney refused him that strategy.

Maybe you're right. I pulled up an article from Time Magazine online.

By CNN’s clock, President Barack Obama spoke for more than three minutes longer than Mitt Romney. But it didn’t feel like he said more. In the first debate of the 2012 campaign, Romney was sharper, more animated, quicker. Two candidates were on stage, but only one seemed to be competing. Obama spent more time speaking but not more time talking. You could have held a whole other debate within the time he spent on “Aaaahs” and “Ummms” and thoughtful pauses.

He didn't agree with everything, but he agreed with a lot generally speaking. Apparently he accomplished his mission last night.

Well, I admit that I didn't watch debates with a stopwatch, but it always felt like Romney was scrambling for the last word like he thought he was getting gypped on debate time.

I guess that's why we have the great truth engine we call the internet. I doubt anyone would say Time Magazine is a biased source.

What was his mission.....to come across yet again as a complete flip flopper or to endorse Obama?

You are partially right. There were stretches of the debate where that happened, but the pacing of the debates changed throughout.

Obama's goal was to alienate Romney and differentiate between the two of them. Romney refused him that goal, thus accomplishing his own.

You have to understand that these debates are also more about appearance's sake. Whoever looks more presidential will probably win more votes. Romney looked far more presidential than Obama, not to mention Obama's attempted cheap shots at Romney that had nothing to do with the topic at hand.

How can showing your ignorance about who our enemies are and your ignorance the our biggest enemy is not bordered by Syria and is not landlocked help make Romney look "Presidential"? If anything, he looked completely unprepared and unqualified to serve as commander in chief.

Obama may have won by a hair, if anything. But it's too little, too late. When looking at the whole debate series, Romney won by a mile.

Who got the most political hay out of them? There can be absolutely no question Romney clobbered Obama. If Obama loses? It will be because of the debate series. The American people finally got to see "the ogre" liberals were claiming him to be. And he came off as the man he really is: intelligent, caring, and moderate.
