What was his mission.....to come across yet again as a complete flip flopper or to endorse Obama?

I guess that's why we have the great truth engine we call the internet. I doubt anyone would say Time Magazine is a biased source.
You are partially right. There were stretches of the debate where that happened, but the pacing of the debates changed throughout.

Obama's goal was to alienate Romney and differentiate between the two of them. Romney refused him that goal, thus accomplishing his own.

You have to understand that these debates are also more about appearance's sake. Whoever looks more presidential will probably win more votes. Romney looked far more presidential than Obama, not to mention Obama's attempted cheap shots at Romney that had nothing to do with the topic at hand.

How can showing your ignorance about who our enemies are and your ignorance the our biggest enemy is not bordered by Syria and is not landlocked help make Romney look "Presidential"? If anything, he looked completely unprepared and unqualified to serve as commander in chief.

Personally, I say Romney won. He wasn't leading the argument by much, but he dominated Obama with content.
Obama may have won by a hair, if anything. But it's too little, too late. When looking at the whole debate series, Romney won by a mile.

Who got the most political hay out of them? There can be absolutely no question Romney clobbered Obama. If Obama loses? It will be because of the debate series. The American people finally got to see "the ogre" liberals were claiming him to be. And he came off as the man he really is: intelligent, caring, and moderate.

I'd say 40 seconds difference between them amounts to a pretty even split.

You noticed that, too? Romney was sporting his usual helmet of plastic that had been varathaned so thoroughly it looked like it could survive a nuke, except for this one tiny little wayward strand at his left temple that somehow escaped.

The sad fact is that nobody knows what Mitt Romney is - extreme conservative, conservative, moderate. He is all things to all people, and apparently has no core values or principles. When coupled with a non-existant foreign policy, it makes him perhaps the most dangerous man ever to run for President.

I just thought I'd offer my well wishes and say I hope you are not feeling the ill effects from that coma you must have been in between 2000 and 2008.
