Could be anything from local school board or city council to state/federal office.

I was a village trustee in a small town. You won't mind, I hope, that I don't tell you where. I served two terms...first was a fill-in from the get-go; second was elected. I declined to run for a third as I was moving. I endorsed the candidate running in my stead, and he won. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. Actually, it was one of my most rewarding experiences. But had I known what I was getting into? I'd 'a run like hell in the opposite direction. ;)

I would absolutely never run for any office higher than something in my local community. It's just flat-out not worth the hassle and stress. Even a local office probably wouldn't be worth it, although I'm not going to rule it out.

I'm only 19 and have no real plans on running for anything, but I wouldn't rule it out.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have held a position on the Planning Commission of a very small town in which I used to live, but it was appointed, not elected.

The thought has occurred to me for city council, but I wouldn't be up for an election, so it'll never happen.
