If you felt the person was qualified would you vote for Muslim president?

All you people who think Muslims pose no threat to this country wake up amd look around....Look at all the other Muslim Nations that have Sharia Law. How many of them are really our friends?....You can count them on one hand and if we did not give them billions of dollars there would be even less. Even in countries like England and France where they have huge Muslim populations have problems......Like I said before Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. I believe right now we have 1 Muslim in Congress...That could change quickly. Please think about it.....It could happen.

Navy Pride circa...1940: All you people who think Japanese Americans pose no threat to this country wake up amd look around....Look at Japan. How many of them are really our friends?....You can count them on one hand and if we did not give them billions of dollars there would be even less. Even in countries like England and France where they have huge Japanese populations have problems......Like I said before Japan is the fastest growing group in the world. I believe right now we have 1 Japanese American in Congress...That could change quickly. Please think about it.....It could happen!!!!!!!!!!

All you people who think Muslims pose no threat to this country wake up amd look around....Look at all the other Muslim Nations that have Sharia Law.

Look at our precedents -- legal and social -- and theirs. Look at our history and theirs. Look at our founding documents and theirs. You can't make the comparison. Sharia law (of which there is no one unified code, by the way) can't take root here any more than a movement to compel people accused of a crime to testify against themselves in court or face the death penalty.

How many of them are really our friends?....You can count them on one hand and if we did not give them billions of dollars there would be even less.

We give Israel lots and lots of foreign aid. We sell them weapons. We share intelligence with them. Would they be our friends if we stopped doing all of those things, or would they accuse us of being anti-Semites and cut us off? We'll never know until we do it. Same with any other country.

Even in countries like England and France where they have huge Muslim populations have problems......Like I said before Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. I believe right now we have 1 Muslim in Congress...That could change quickly. Please think about it.....It could happen.

England's problem is that it's government and criminal justice system are screwed all to hell. France's problem is youth unemployment. Neither of these problems are rooted in Muslim populations.

No way....because the Koran, islams book, refers to America as the great satan, and Islam is a political religion Moreno than any other, you can't have one without the other... I could go on and on but that sums it up in a nutshell

Holy ****...I need to start following Islam apparently because that's some actual prophetic **** if they listed "America" in the Koran centuries before it existed!

If any particular Muslim were an Islamist, they would not get my vote. If they were traditionally conservative as are the majority of Muslims when it comes to gender roles, the relationship between religion and secular society or the lack of respect for diversity, they would not get my vote. If their actual views of the world were in alignment with mine, however, I would not only vote for them, but think such a person could do much to solve the problems inherent with Islamism.

Precious few people in these forums seem to understand that Islamism is profoundly CONSERVATIVE by nature, as is traditional Islam, and what Islam needs as a whole to be more compatible with western society is a profound liberalization. What, with the dogmatic leftists in these forums defending the Islamist and ultra conservative forms of Islam out of blind political correctness, and the dogmatic righties painting with a broad brush as if all Muslims were Islamist, the discussion becomes muddied by all the people who are just repeating stupid platitudes and conforming to group think instead of approaching the subject from the standpoint of the actual world views involved. The stupid people on the hard left call a person an "Islamophobe" if they criticize the archly conservative nature of traditional Islam and the stupid people on the hard right just blather on with whatever Glen Beck tells them, and all do so without even the tiniest clue as to the underlying values they are attacking or defending.

Since Obama said he is a Muslim and since until marriage he wore a ring with a declaration of being of the religion of Islam, we already know Americans would and have. Of course, that does not disqualify him and everyone knows he says whatever he thinks best to say at the moment.

There are more Muslims in the USA than in Britain. Woo scary!

We have far more people overall, of course, and so the percentages are different. Our Muslim population is more assimilated, less radical and better educated as a whole as well.

Dude that is such utter bull****. Please tell me you don't actually believe this closet Muslim stuff?

Yes. I'd also vote for a qualified Christian, a qualified Jew, a qualified Hindu, a qualified Buddhist, a qualified Shintoist, a qualified Zoroastrian, a qualified Daoist, a qualified Confucianist, a qualified Mormon, a qualified Rastafarian, a qualified atheist, a qualified agnostic, a qualified pantheist, and a qualified pagan. As long as it doesn't influence their policy, I really couldn't care less.

I know there is a similar poll here but I didnt like the silly twist about adding "if he came out the day before the election" in there

my question is, if you felt the person was qualified by your standards to be president and he was a Muslim would you vote for him, and if not why?

my answer is OF COURSE YES, because if I thought he was qualified his religion doesn't matter.

If the person acted like most American politicians, where their religious beliefs and political beliefs were one, absolutely not. If they could separate their religion from their work, yes.

exactly!

it will have SOME influence but in general the only was a politician would be qualified is if they are able to mostly separate the two.
This is why I always wondered about Paul Ryans statement but he wasnt clear on it. He said he didnt think it was possible to separate them but he didnt go into detail. Im sure he meant he didnt think it was possible for total separation but he was unclear.

I agree, its the ONLY way to be a good and qualified candidate.

Question though do you really think most politicians are that way? I certainly do not.

Absolutely. Why is gay marriage illegal? Stem cell research funding banned? Marijuana illegal? Religion. Religion. Religion.

well thats not the same though. Yes I feel people wrongly using religion majorly impacts those things BUT I dont think thats because of" politicians personal views" and "inability to separate the two" themselves its because the cater to the loudest and squeakiest wheels in their base and a lot of time thats the extremists.

it most areas of the country and especially for president i think any candidate that would show a huge inability to separate the two would lose, they would certainly never get my vote because it would be clear they have no understanding of america.

It's exactly the same. Politicians use the word god to justify their actions far, far too often. I want nothing of it.

I agree i want nothing of it too but its not the "same" at all.

The "results" are similar but its not the same.

I'd be really interested if you can show the forum where that is stated in the Qu'ran.
