This is a hypothetical. Let's say that stem cell research did not involve the use of embryos but involved something else which had the same potential and success as embryonic stem cell research. There would no embryos or human life destroyed in the use of stem cell research.

Would you support or oppose stem cell research?

support uncatagorically. There are hidden secrets in this type research that can provide answers and cures for current serious medical issues.
The same goes for vegetation in the rain forests. Look how many drugs and cures have come out of that. So what do we do. Burn Baby Burn

Stupid

As long as the stem cells do not come from embryos I will support stem cell research.

I've always supported stem cell research.

Absolutely for it, and that includes government research grants for it.

I've always found the research creepy, but it's hard to ignore the possibilities. As long as it doesn't involve preventing a child from being born (and as far as I'm aware, no research has even come close), I'm all for it.

I support all stem-cell research, embryonic or not.

Any research that has the potential of curing deadly or debilitating disease is good research.

If you are talking about adult stem cell research, which has proven success and harms no one, I enthusiastically support it.

Not at the expense of innocent human life, particularly when so many of those lives will be squandered in search of a justifiable outcome.

Well, of course, if you kill people to further research, that isn't justified. If you create an embryo for the purpose of research, that is pretty questionable. If you use one that has been aborted already, or one that was created via in vitrio and is left over, why not use it instead of discarding it?

This is one of the great ethical debates of our day.

I'd support it either way.

I support stem cell research...with sincere and proper ethical considerations and conventions.

I do not support taxpayer financing for any kind of stem cell research.

Adult stem cell research doesn't have near the potential that embryonic stem cell research has. That's why I put the question as a hypothetical.

I'd rather new embryos aren't created, but I don't think they are doing that to begin with, so it's all fine and dandy.

I am no expert but from what I understand the "viability" of adult stem cell research (if thats the correct phrase) is minimal compared to embryonic research. I hope I am making myself understood. This is an area I am a novice in.

For it with non-embryonic stem cells or embryonic lines that are not sourced from the aborted.

for it! even if its embryonic.

of course im for it because of the potential to save lives and make lives better, logically ill never understand being against it because I havent read or seen any rational to do so.

We already have that. Non-embryonic stem cell research has produced around 70-odd therapies to date... embryonic has, last I checked, produced none.

For it, IF it's non-embryonic. If embryonic stem cells can somehow do better, then I'd be for it.

We need to be able to cure cancer, etc, if possible.

I'm very much in favor of stem cell research, regardless of whether or not embryonic stem cells are being used.
