What you guys ought to do is eat a bowl of steamed 'Lacinato' kale for breakfast (Grow a few plants if you can). When steamed it has a mild, nutty flavor and is one of the world's top 10 superfoods. Apparently if you steam kale its cholesterol-fighting properties are enhanced.

Kale can provide you with some special cholesterol-lowering benefits if you will cook it by steaming. The fiber-related components in kale do a better job of binding together with bile acids in your digestive tract when they've been steamed. When this binding process takes place, it's easier for bile acids to be excreted, and the result is a lowering of your cholesterol levels. Raw kale still has cholesterol-lowering ability—just not as much.

Kale's risk-lowering benefits for cancer have recently been extended to at least five different types of cancer. These types include cancer of the bladder, breast, colon, ovary, and prostate. Isothiocyanates (ITCs) made from glucosinolates in kale play a primary role in achieving these risk-lowering benefits.

    Suggestions?
Packs of stir-fry vegetables. They hold forever, and if you do it correctly, taste quite fresh. One of my favorites is brussel sprouts. Just add the stir fry to meat with a bit of sauce and you have an amazing low-carb dinner.

    Perfect! I am not alone.

I wish every American could put themselves above things this way.

It appears that most people operate rather under that "I take it because I deserve it" mentality that aggressive marketing pushes the entire population into.

I would like to propose, that those who are victims of that marketing (which is most people), should start chain smoking quickly, because that will kill them slower than their "needs"/"deserves"/"indenities". A marketing idea for tobacco companies? (I am a non-smoker though.) HAHAHAHAHA

ahhh different thread for that discussion yet no worries. There are no death panels!

Besides diet. IMO, many people would benifit from getting out and exercising and do some labor around the home.

Try spending a shift of the fireline for 14-16 hours a day for a couple of weeks. Amazing what you can eat.

Hey Pinkie, I would like a piece of your secret here. (I overlooked your post, but this may be a goldmine.) How do you manage the feelings of living alone? You definitely know something ... give me a piece of that wisdom. I am experimenting with this too (until new year), and I must say I fail with this all the time, because the loneliness bug catches up with me non-stop. Give me an idea.

I'd never hope you to be as comfy living alone as I am, ab9926. Loneliness is a blessing. Treasure it and let it lead you to find the herd or pair bond you want, at least for now.

    Take a gander yonder:

I have a good weight, and I get enough vitamins and minerals, although my cholesterol is slightly higher than it should be.

However I don't eat well and I go long periods without food, and I have no time for practising apart from all the walking I do each day, so I will say I am in OK shape.

I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

Re: I am genuinely curious ....

for an 18 year old, i'm in ok shape.

    thank god i'm 60

the bad: I'm a smoker... I loves my cigs and cigars.. and other "alternative tobaccos"..i've been a pack a day smoker since, oh... 1968 or so
I'm a drinker.. I loves my whiskey.... i'm not a drunk or an alcoholic though.
I love my coffee too... lifer juice is a necessity
I've had one heart attack ( seems as though ticker problems are written into my DNA)
I'm somewhat of a sex addict... but that's ok, as my wife is too.
mentally, i'm somewhat obsessed with keeping a toned body... which had lead to numerous injuries.(my knees and shoulder feel he brunt of over 40 years of running and working out)
my joints bark at me on cold mornings

the good : great BP (115/70) ,cholesterol is good, pulse averages 45.. ..the vitals are all pretty good
I run 3-5 miles every stinking day...6 and half minute mile pace.
I lift every other day ( can't let old man muscle turn into old man flab, ya see)
and I labor our land for about 5 or 6 hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week.
I golf 2 rounds a week... and play basketball once a week at church.

mentally, i'm happy... but stressed out a bit.
I'm stressed because there's still a ton of **** I need to get done in life, and I worry I don't have enough time on this earth to get it all done.
my "bucket list" is done... but the **** i need to get done isn't for me.. its for the family and future generations to come.
I still have problems dealing with past life experiences of the military sort, but I figure those won't ever go away, so I just keep on truckin'

the only thing that calms my stress is daily rides on my scooter.. and alone time with my ol lady.... it's bliss when we both ride the countryside ( it doesn't get any hotter than a sexy woman on a scooter)... time and the rest of our lives just seem to melt away when we're on our hogs.

frequenting political sites is also a stress relief for me... the comedic value of this stuff is priceless.

all in all, I'm happy with my health.. could be a bit better.. could be a lot worse.
the health of my family is more important to me now, though... i'm not long on this rock, but my kids and future generations are just starting out.
