Who Won?

Who won tonight's debate?

Romney made better points during the debate. It's just a shame that the facts he used to back them up were largely made up. At least Romney actually responded to comments by his opponent, which Obama did not do. But Romney's responses were mainly to divorce himself from the policies he'd been espousing for months.

Romney looked better tonight. He won't look as good once the fact checkers get done with him.

Nah, he hates Big Bird so bad he's gonna pull funding. Big Bird will starve and be digging into Oscar's garbage can for scraps before you know it.

I made it myself in like 15 minutes :D

Romney won. And he likes Big Bird.
I bothered not as to watching these so-called debates.
Actually - true debates are neither won nor lost.
And Romney "liking Big Bird" displays his intellect (childish)..

You must not have any kids, and if you do.... (boring).

This is why I can't agree with everyone who says Romney "won" the debate. By pure looks alone, he was certainly better. Obama was exceedingly disappointing when it came to assertiveness and clarity. However, Romney's content was incredibly sub par, particularly since it was just dishonesty and flip flopping as usual. That, to me, is not a win and I think the people who say it is a win are judging debates the wrong way.

At the same time, Obama didn't pull out a win either. Both won and lost in certain areas.

By pure looks alone, he was certainly better.

As Kennedy proved in the very first televised presidential debate, that's all that matters.

You can get people to believe a whole load of bull**** if you just look good and confident while saying it.

Romney by the inch of the football that we all want just over first down marker to get a first down.
This is not a silly game.
Our nation is at "decision time".
Are we to go forward into the future OR are we to regress into the past.
This is what I think it is.
And, both Obama and Romney represent the past, both are conservative, but, Obama less so, which is good.

The President, or Mitt Romney?

Mitt did. I think he had a much lower threshold.

All I kept thinking was the Mitt apparently will lower taxes, increase spending to education/military/Medicare, keep our safety nets intact, and balance the budget by kicking Big Bird off the air.

These debates are never won on the merits of the candidates' respective arguments, but rather their rhetoric and stage performance and style points. It's just one of those situations where perception wins out and nobody gives a damn about reality. But historically speaking debates have had little impact on the outcomes of elections, so I'm not sure how big a deal it really is.

The President, or Mitt Romney?

I think Barack Obama won, because Mitt Romney was just shooting from the hip, contradicting himself half the time, only to score points. But politics is not a logical but an emotional game, so who knows this may work for him. The old saying is true, every nation deserves the government they elect. When is the freedom of international travel going to be restored again in America?

Nah...he loves Big Bird. I believe the rhetoric used was that even though he loved Big Bird he doesnt want to borrow billions of dollars from the Chinese and make your grandkids and great grandkids pay it back so that you can have the pleasure of watching Big Bird.

I do so wish there was a good old 'real' progressive running. One that would show what they REALLY want. Better yet, I wish there were some 'real' progressives out there creating businesses and employing people using a 'progressive' system and not just bitching about how they cant steal more money from capitalists to pay for their wonderful progressive ideals. You would think with all these proponents of progressive policies we would already actually have such things in place demonstrating how successful they are.

Sure and like I said, if people are judging it by looks alone, then they are judging them the wrong way. I judge them differently. /shrug

Romney talked to Obama almost the whole debate. Seemed almost as if he were deferring in a way.

Obama did ramble, and too often, spoke as if he were an interviewee, not a debater in a very important contest.

The debate itself was pretty bad, very boring, and I zoned out repeatedly.

I am cornfused by the juxtaposition of your statements. Are there more than one of you?

That said I think Romney outshone Obama in this one by a fairly wide margin. I expect the talk today in the media to be of the "does it really matter" flavor. Also we will likely see more "what Obama did wrong" than "What Romney did right" talk.

I judged by style, content, & level of confidence. Romney took Obama apart on all three counts. I almost felt sorry for the president; almost, but not quite. ;)

Obama won relative to maintaining the general image of his opponent that he wants because Romney still looks like the guy with big promises and no specific way to get there.

Romney can get the upperhand by offering more specifics and continuing the challenge the President and go toe to toe with him.

This must be the left wing talking point of the morning. As of yet I have seen zero links to Obama or any president being much more specific when they were running for president... or if they gave specifics, how those plans worked out, or failed. I'm guessing much like the 'fair share' talking point, there will never be any real data to support this new 'specifics' talking point, as it's an end in itself.
