    Simply absurd.

I'm not voting because I wouldn't want either. Obviously a random sample of the American public could be a disaster because there are some very uninformed people, on the other hand college professors can be some of the most radical people in this country.

I want our leaders to be intelligent and educated but I also think it takes more than that to be a good leader. I want them to be wise, ethical, and be in touch with the people.

Kinda what I said, right? Academia is not a magic cloak of competency, nor incompetence. Same w/ Joe Six Pack.

Ideally, I would want a mixture of both.

However, if I can't have that then I would pick the academics.

Like everybody else, you've been taken in by the political poses of the phony ideologues. Liberals who run these agencies are unconscious agents of the Right Wing. Their class instinct drives them to purposely make government inefficient. There is nothing wrong with the way our services are organized; the people in charge of them want us to be alienated from the government and make sure things go wrong.

This ilk of spoiled, sheltered, suburban-born snobs first gave us the hippies. Then they became yuppies. Then, openly admitting the class all these ppies come from, they were called "preppies." But all along, in a united Liberal-Conservative axis, they been taking over the government ("gummint") in order to use it against the majority. So they should be called "guppies."
On the outside, trickling down on the insiders.

Credentialism is less important than wisdom. Not for me an arrogant elite who assumes they can run my life better than I can.

I would like to see a combination of those two groups mentioned in the OP. I have always felt that in our congress and state legislatures we need a whole lot more waitresses, truck drivers, salespeople, and just plain average people to go along with the highly educated attorneys, professors, and the highly degreed. I certainly would NOT want the first 535 people off the street. Nor would I want 535 Ivy League attorneys or polisci profs.

One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers
