You do understand he calls for the genocide of the christian communities in Egypt right? Not him personally, not now... but during the campaign, yes. Now he has other cronies who do it for him, and he doesn't address it...
Too early to tell. He refuses to refer to the US as an "ally", which gives me bad vibes about the future of the treaty brokered by the US between Egypt and Israel along with the fact that we have been one of Egypt's most important... and lucrative... allies for many, many years. He is also unwilling to label the US as an "enemy", which would align himself with the more Islamist factions in the ME.
He's trying to ride a bucking, electrical fence. He'll either get thrown, or tame the beast. I'm not sure which will happen, but it could be a major game-changer down the road for several countries in the region.

Completely UNTRUE...
I'm sorry, what?

Egypt Christians 'Killed' After Election Morsi | Worthy Christian News
Even with him putting a christian as his advisor, lets face it... he has done little to nothing to stop the spree of attacks on christian communities. The discrepancy between his words and his deeds is very, very high.
Your initial claim was that Morsi called for the genocide of Christian communities. That is a false statement, and you are a liar for uttering it. If you actually bothered to read the BBC article in question, you would see the police stopped the riot and several officers were injured in the process.
You don't get it do you.
I mean, really, you don't. You assume that the police went there to stop the rioters and the murderers because... the president told them to? They went there because they didn't want another riot on their hands. They had one not too long ago that resulted in a regime change. This doesn't mean that there have been actions taken to prevent such things from happening again (jihads against Christians).
Morsi is not interested in having a secular state. He and his constituency are interested in establishing sharia law. By that law, christians will never have peace because every loony islamist out there can hype some people to go about killing christians so that they can go to heaven. His political platform was based on establishing sharia law.
He isn't going about the world calling for the murder of christians... but he is steadily and surely creating the proper environment where christians will be persecuted.

As is usual for the rabid Islam haters, you start with a bald face lie accusing someone of genocide and than back peddle when called on your BS.
It is entirely true that Morsi has theocratic beliefs and does not like Coptics very much. It is utterly false to claim he is responsible for the riots or that he wants to murder them. I am interested in accurately describing his political positions, you simply want to demonize him to satisfy your personal bigotry.
I did no backpeddling. It is still genocide. I am still accusing him of the same things. I have just provided you the context.
It is your decision to go on blindlfully supporting him and defending him here.
I would be terrified, as a christian, if I would live in Egypt. Knowing full well that my president wants to enforce sharia law and that I may end up dead at the hands of some rabid islamists who want to go to paradise.
As others say... the rise of the muslim brotherhood with this much hailed arab spring is turning into the autumn of christians in the middle east.
If Morsi was sending his troops to round up the Christians and execute them by firing squad, that would be genocide. Calling for calm after some rioters are stopped by the police while trying to burn a church is not even close. The Coptics are facing a difficult time in Egypt, but your claims of genocide are utterly without merit.
ok. Well, I have presented my side of argument with some news, a reasonable approach to his political platform and I can reinforce it by giving examples of similar situations all across the arab spring.
You have come to the argument by saying that I presented something false because he is... what? a good man who is trying to make things good? I thought we agreed that sharia isn't good. Therefore, these things cannot go hand in hand. Or I am wrong because he hasn't sent his army to slaughter people yet and that the police managed to stop angry islamists from killing all the Christians. They just let them kill some Christians. But not all.
I just don't see what you have to go on. I mean I really don't...
Oh, I know... his backers. The guys that supported him and offer him political capital. What was that wonderful organization again... the Muslim Brotherhood. They were the freedom-loving, free speech, democracy guys right?
... The Brotherhood's credo was and is, "Allah is our objective; the Quran is our law, the Prophet is our leader; Jihad is our way; and death for the sake of Allah is the highest of our aspirations."[9][10] The Brotherhood's English language website describes the "principles of the Muslim Brotherhood" as including firstly the introduction of the Islamic Shari`ah as "the basis for controlling the affairs of state and society;" and secondly work to unify "Islamic countries and states, mainly among the Arab states, and liberating them from foreign imperialism".[17]
from wikipedia. Oh look... they seem friendly. Ofc, the addage is completely bull**** since it contradicts shariah law.
So please present your case as to why this guy is a good guy. So far, I see only accusations that I am wrong while providing nothing to rebuttle.
The truth is that Morsi is neither a "good guy" nor a genocidal monster. He is primarily a self interested politician trying to maintain power in a fairly chaotic situation. He will make concessions to his religious backers, but not the kind that result in violence and instability.
the populace of Egypt is anti-American due partially on our long backing of the dictatorship that abused them and partially on the psychological release that comes from it. It's comforting to be able to blame your problems on someone else, and we gave them an easy way to construct that narrative by supporting the Sadat/Mubarak regimes.
Morsi is now the leader of a representative government. His foreign policies will be designed to increase his power, meaning that they will be confrontational with the United States, but not enough to invite serious backlash from us unless by failing to act (or not, depending on the scenario) he would face a more severe backlash at home. This means he will enable Islamist violence both in his nation and abroad (but mostly abroad) to a higher level than the Mubarak regime, and would likely be a leader in any attempt to coordinate measures against the US in the event of a strike on the Iranian nuclear program.
What is the youtube fiasco?I could never truly support Morsi based on his ideological positions, especially towards women. That said, he acted in a reasonable manner during the youtube fiasco . . .
