Why thats just horse**** son. You cant be stupid enough to believe that so you must instead be deflecting from the obvious truth, which is, coincidentally...deflecting from the facts. Lets talk about any and everything EXCEPT the things that are destroying this country. You obvious allusion to his religion and your continued bigotry is, BTW noted. laughed at...but noted.

Bigotry of what? Hey, if Romney is funding cults through his taxes, I'd like to know even if there is no proof he is. As I said, concerned citizen. Why are you so hellbent on distracting from legitimate issues? The thread is about Reid, Romney and taxes. You'd do well to stop trying to derail the thread. We're all here trying to get to the bottom of the issue.

Thats pretty pathetic even coming from you. But what is to talk about re Reid? He is a pathetic, lying scumbag, a horrible 'leader', has been in charge of the senate for 5 years now and couldnt pass so much as a budget. There are LOTS of things to discuss there I suppose. Which would you like to start with...his lie about 'proof' that Romney paid no taxes? OK...on topic...GO. Talk about whether or not he should resign. Talk about that strong democrat leadership. (this will be the shortest conversation in history).

Oh...and...its funny...you are a Romney 'birther'. :lamo

What Matters in Romney's Tax Memo - Yahoo! Finance

In an attempt to smear Mitt Romney, about two months ago United States Senator Harry Reid declared that he had inside knowledge that Mitt Romney had not paid any taxes for some of the years over the last decade. This has now been debunked. So the question is, if a United States senator lies about another American's income tax filings in an attempt to smear them, should that trusted member of civilized government be forced to resign?

It has not been debunked! In fact even on IRS forms in which Romney paid less than one third of the percentage that I paid as a full-time working nurse practioner ... it could be zero as he had hundreds of millions hidden offshore. What about the secretive forms from the ten years at Bain and where he invested the money he made while taking a slice of the pie to dismantle companies and jobs to make a handful of people uber wealthy?

Proof Harry lied? No ...proof of Romney's secretive offshore financial record in which he boasts qualifies him him to be POTUS. No!

I do not think Reid is perfect yet on many issues he is right on target! That was a bold move Reid pulled ... a boxing move ... now if Romneyy wants to open it up and 'prove" Reid lied ...well Reid would be the first to say Bring it on! Romney is a rich boy used to people placating him and Reid is a man.

Nevada is such a bizarre state imho ... I am curious how it will go ... lots of Mormans. I only go to Nevada to bike in the canyons ... I hate Vegas.

Former boxer and patriot ...Harry Reid is badass!

Reid has less reason to resign than Romney!

Romney wasn't born in the US? News to me. We will get to the bottom of that legitimate issue in time. Now, what do you think about the fact that Romney pays a lower percentage in taxes than people who make far less than him and surely need the money more? :)

I dont give a rats ass as long as he isnt breaking the law. And the funny thing is...none of YOU liberals give a **** either...when its a democrat we are talking about. Which says nothing about the rich folk but speaks VOLUMES about the liberals that pretend to give a **** and their complete lack of character.

That was fun...NEXT nontopical response that has nothing to do with Harry Reid. Go.

Who said it had nothing to do with Harry Reid? Reid was the one who pushed Romney into releasing some percentage of his tax returns. Now we know more about him than we ever have. I mean his positions on anything change day to day. But tax releases? They say a lot about who he is as a person. For example, now we know he wants to reduce income tax from 35% to 25%, an admirable idea which his own taxation doesn't reflect. He also raised taxes in Massachusetts by fees. None of which really affected him. We know he's not concerned about the poor or the homeless. Essentially his returns have shown he is exactly what people painted Obama as in the last election. He's an elitist who probably doesn't have interactions with the rest of America outside of hiring them as maids.

you paid over 40% effective rate on your taxes?.. i find that incredibly hard to believe... impossible to believe, actaully.

the average effective income tax rate ( excluding fica) for each quintile are as follows
1st : -6.8
2nd: -0.4
3rd : 3.3
4th : 6.2
5th : 14.4
Historical Effective Federal Tax Rates for All Households

it seems Romney has paid on par with his economic peers

and you are in your own special class of uber-super-duper-ultra-rich nurses... with a 40+% effective rate.

let me guess... you are comparing his effective tax rate to other peoples marginal tax rate...correct?

No. I'm comparing it to this:

Total_Effective_Tax_Rates_2011.jpg

oddly enough... your wiki graphic claims ITEP is the source.... yet i can't find any such graphic on ITEP, nor any article on their site having anything to do with total federal effective tax rates.

maybe you can be more successful than i have been at locating this data for corroboration...
The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP)

wow... there's a huge difference between what your wiki graphic says and what the CBO and the center for tax policy says...

here's a CBO pdf..
http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/ftpdocs/57xx/doc5746/08-13-effectivefedtaxrates.pdf

here is the Tax Policy Centers numbers.
Baseline Tables: Effective Tax Rates by Cash Income Percentile; Baseline: Current Law, 2010

I think i'll stick with my 2 sources over an anonymous wiki graphic..

Oh my bad, should have done more research. Still:

On which of these does Romney fall with 13 million? :)

at a touch over 14% individual income tax effective rate... looks like he falls just a touch higher than the average for the highest quintile..which is 13.6%

Yes, if I include federal, state and other taxes and I was including FICA I paid almost 39% of my income in taxes.

Romney reports in one year to have paid 13% ...yet with hundreds of millions of hidden income his actual rate was much less.

Hmmm I earn over 6 figures ... yet I would hardly use your semantics of uber-super-duper ultra rich to describe a person such as me. I work my ass off ...with a FT position and a consulting business as I have my masters in managing chronic disease. i hardly think of that as super uper duper ... it is simply work I love and I have a skill in case management that helps people struggling with complex medical issues and saves tax payer money.

I like my work ...it is nothing glamourous or "uber super duper" nor am I rich ...yet I do fairly well supporting myself and my children.

Now because we do not know exactly how much Romney pays ... I suspect my best guess that I pay 3 times the percentage of what he pays on his income is a gross understatement on my part.

I am not sure what you find so difficult to believe ... a person with their masters in managing complex cases of chronic disease that can improve clinical outcomes and lower costs for the payor be it private or public is in demand.

Super duper ... believe what you want ... you are sadly speaking on something you seem to know little about. It is actually irrelevant.

you don't find it a bit.. off ...to include every tax you pay and compare that to the federal income tax the unemployed rich dude pays?

wouldn't an apple to apple comparison be wiser to utilize?

what is your individual federal income tax effective rate?.. find that out and see if it's higher or lower than 14%.
I think you'll be surprised by the number.

Resign over the tax accusation? That sounds rather idiotic. If anything, the only time Reid would resign (unless dramatic proof of illegal/unethical practices) is if he found polling data to suggest he was going to lose reelection. A politician shouldn't overextend his hand in accusations like Reid did, however, let's be frank. How many of us who knew this information, would retain it within a year's time? It just doesn't make sense for the man to resign over something so temporary.

Do you think there is a difference between lying about yours or someone else's policies, making promises you find out you can't keep, and saying that you have special knowledge that someone else has defrauded taxpayers, is a felon, or something like that? Same question as above, what if Speaker Boehner said he had personally reviewed the birth certificate files in Hawaii and determined Obama wasn't born there, should he resign for a lie like that?

When did Reid say that Romney committed fraud on the taxpayers? Last I checked, Reid said that through a variety of legal measures, Romney paid nothing. Not that Romney is a tax cheat. And the whole felon thing is largely on the disclosures to the Fed about his time at Bain. And that is somewhat questionable considering the legal statements given and Romney's equity interests.

From the swiftboating of Kerry to the comment that Obama "pals around with terrorists" I find it disingenuous when Republicans huff and puff over the Reid comment. You guys have done a great job lowering the bar of political discourse. In fact you've been so effective that nobody cares that Reid made those comments.

But he did.

Dinner at a domestic terrorists house is palling around.

If a politician was forced to step down because they lied, then they would be kicked out...

come to think of it...

They all should resign and we should start over with no political parties...just the individual will be judged.

We know he paid more in taxes than many rich democrats AND he gives more to charitable causes in both dollar amounts and percentages. Thats what you 'learned'. Oh...and as has been pointed out...we learned already that as governor he actually passed a state run medical reform system, long before liberals passed one at the fed level. We also have had it made abundantly clear that this is only relevant to you when it involves a republican.

Now...about Harry Reid...

I didn't care for Harry Reid before he told the lie. i just go to show what he's made of.

How has Reids claim been debunked? Where are Romney's tax forms from 2007,2008, 2009? I'm sure there are some years there that he paid no taxes in.

If Romeny paid no taxes in those years that meant he had no income of any kind. If he had inclome and paid no taxzes the IRS would be all over him.

Nah,. Romney is telling lies about Obama all the time...everytime he turns around. I think if we let Willard lie, we can let Reid tell the truth. After all, they DO go to the same church...;)

He was asked for 10 years. He released 1? Why?

Do you give everything you are asked for evenif it is detrimental to you?

Why should he show 10 years tax returns?

This schoolyard mentality of "give it to us or we'll tell" is rediculous.
