What Matters in Romney's Tax Memo - Yahoo! Finance

In an attempt to smear Mitt Romney, about two months ago United States Senator Harry Reid declared that he had inside knowledge that Mitt Romney had not paid any taxes for some of the years over the last decade. This has now been debunked. So the question is, if a United States senator lies about another American's income tax filings in an attempt to smear them, should that trusted member of civilized government be forced to resign?

Of course not. Romney has not provided anything to disprove Reid's accusation. A "Summary" of the last 20 years is hardly detailed enough.

Also if politicians should resign for lying. then Paul Ryan should resign on the spot. The amount of whoppers he has thrown out over the last few months.. plus in principle he should resign because he is running for another office.

Harry Reid is not going to resign. He's so dodgy that it will take the jaws of death to pry that creep from his senate seat.

Does Obama launching his political career in Ayers living Room count as one of those times they "met"?

Well since Ayers is pretty big in the Chicago area sure. It was set up by Obama's campaign office to meet people that would be important to getting him support from the liberal base.

If Romeny paid no taxes in those years that meant he had no income of any kind. If he had inclome and paid no taxzes the IRS would be all over him.

Is this a joke?

You can have tax exempted income such as muni bonds or income that is netted with carry forward losses and pay no income tax. $100 million invested in 2% tax free muni bonds generates $2 million in tax free income.

To not pay income tax on taxable income means not declaring it. And not reporting any of it via bank sources requires moving it to a location that does not report to the IRS. AKA, the UBS bank scandal.

What is with this topic that causes people who clearly have little grasp of the topic to think they are experts?

I understand this topic completely.

The only way Romneys taxes are any of your business is if he did something illegal.

If he took write offs to bring his rate to 0 then good for him. He is not the only one that does it.

Do you take the write offs you are entitled to? If so then youhave nothing to say about anybody elses taxes.

Since it seems you have inside knowledge of how this launch of his political career took place, did Obama socialize with Ayers or did he spend the whole evening away from him?

Meeting somebody is saying hello then going your own way, not spending the evening at their house and then serving on a board of a company, or whatever it was, with the man.

I don't think you can say they were not friends.

Doesn't appear so. Especially after that last post. You seem highly unaware of the concept of tax exempt income.

The only way Romneys taxes are any of your business is if he did something illegal.

So you don't think it's important for Americans to know what their Presidential candidates are invested in? Perhaps conflict of interest?

Furthermore, his refusal to release 2009 does suggest something went down.

If he took write offs to bring his rate to 0 then good for him. He is not the only one that does it.

Did I say anything bad about that? Carrying forward a capital loss is hardly cause for any concern. Hiding that you did the UBS voluntary disclosure for illegal foreign tax shelters is another story entirely.

Do you take the write offs you are entitled to? If so then youhave nothing to say about anybody elses taxes.

You clearly do not understand this topic.
